I still like mine too. Some years ago I moved from a cool state to take a job in a not-so-highly-regarded state. Better job, less work, more money; what's not to like? A friend teased me - But there is nothing to spend the money on, only airfare (to get out)!

Few jobs later, yet another state, but I still live a low-profile life, except for spending money on (mostly) only airfare. Not site specific, and a good thing, since this is the fourth state since I adopted the handle.

It's okay I guess

While not terribly clever, my handle basically came from my last job I retired from. Living in DTW, I was constantly taking little mini-vacations whenever I could find a good airfare to somewhere warm. This was pre FT.

I'd get back to the office (with a tan in winter), and my (married and thus tied down) coworkers would would be like "Wha.....you went on ANOTHER vacation!!!"

So they called me msvacation.

Talking

Still like mine and one I use on other sites but while I thought I knew a lot about travel & related stuff, after joining FT, there are a lot more on this site that deserve this name than me!

My handle was simply my screen name when I played in team computer games (e.g. Counter Strike, Warcraft, etc.). I simply kept saying "anatol, anatolia" in my head one day and thought it had a nice ring to it, so keeping in with the style of serious game players then and today (and I've moved off serious game playing), I changed the o at the end to a 0 (just like replacing a e with a 3, and other insane combinations).

Certainly a new phase and less childish sounding than my first Hotmail handle (and address). As I'm not a very creative person by nature (at least in not this kind of stuff), I've got no regrets about my handle.

I remember the first time I went to the FT AGM in BNE year 2007. I was coming from PER and quickly posted before boarding that someone should try and spot me as I deplaned at BNE so we could catch up for a quick drink and bite at the QC. And there it was: two FTers standing at the gate in BNE with a piece of paper, on which was printed: "Mr. anat0l" (sic)

In case you're wondering, it's pronounced simply /ana-toll/. I believe that QF WP was the first person to pronounce it correctly without prompt - most others either look confused or mispronounce it. Most people (even on FT where cut-and-paste exists!) will misspell my handle, replacing the 0 with an O and the l at the end with a 1! (Hence some mispronunciations, e.g. anat01 -> /anat oh one/ !)

Okay, maybe not!

Mine came about through a sheer and utter lack of imagination. Unfortunately, it's even more appropriate now that I'm a more infrequent flyer than when I joined FT. At least it's an easy one to type!

Well, if it were possible to change handles, I suppose I would have morphed into GatorVol 6 1/2 years ago. I was actually surprised at all the other BamaVols out there on other BB's. But I don't really see a reason to change and am appreciative for the opportunity to clarify that I am only BamaVol here and no place else (except now that I think of it CruiseCritic.com).

My original handle was my first initial and last name. In recent years I've been trying to move away from my real name in forums like this, and I actually changed my handle a few years ago to this. I am still very happy with it.

There was another contender that would have been a play on my former employer. I'm very glad I didn't pick that!

Talk about a blast from the past: in that I am in Santa Rosa now for a handball tournament, as I was in Honolulu three weeks ago, maybe I should have considered Blue Balls? Hand on balls? Balling for miles?

And, although International Crime Lord, Have Handcuffs, Will Travel, and Freelance Screw all have their charm, there is a danger in shouting out your job. Will I have to change to Paroled Jailer when I retire?

Also, geographic designations can be ephemeral in our transitory breed. One FT buddy, AustinTxHiker, now lives in New England. Similarly, loyalty promiscuity can render hotel/airline-linked names obsolete.

So, thinking about your current personal brand, are you misnamed?

Not mine. CMK is my initials and 10 stands for both my birth month of October and the 10 from DC-10, my all time favorite plane.

I haven't been a 1K for likely close to 15 years. Still in the East Bay! But hey, I enjoy my UA MM status by flying UA on average less than one time a year!

nope; I spent three years at Boeing Flight Test, and was Test Director on two 767s that are in museums

(on seeing it for the first time, my then-17-year-old son’s comment was “Congratulations, Dad; you’re so old, your picture’s in a museum!”)

I have seen “your” plane at Udvar-Hazy.
