Nice work ! You are quick !

... but it is a Saturday in OME, not Thursday, right ??
(although I am looking Fri+Sat for myself)
As for possible hotel choice "regrets",
it sounds like a situation I had in Greenland
when choosing the $70 instead of the $200 option.
Actually, it made for good storytelling.

I see an "accessible" aisle seat in the combi that I can shoot for.
I am just worried about all those birders filling up even middle seats.

Every combi I've been on has been packed, no matter the season, but that's true with most AS flights I've been on.

Two reasons why I don't like sitting in Combi Class (row 16.) One, you're over the wing so the view isn't as good. It's "only" about 500 miles from Anchorage to Fairbanks, and I would prefer trying to see the scenery than the added comfort. Two, they board from the rear of the plane so they will be the last to deplane.

I'm not sure about the schedule for next year, but they do defiantly operate aircraft with F to and from Nome. I believe it was someone in this thread that said, and I agree, that they seem to switch out the aircraft quite a bit at the last second.

Indeed it would be a Saturday overnight in OME. I would not be surprised to see the a/c swap a couple times... our schedule even might be changed involuntarily by the airline

Oh, I see what you meant by this.

I meant to say that on Thursday, I sent an email to the Aurora about a block of rooms for Saturday, June 23.

I sent the email on Thursday and did not hear back from them on Friday. Perhaps they will respond on Monday.

OK, sorry for my alarm... absolutely no rush !

Now that I know I won't get Row 16,
It will take me some weeks to book AS,
and be able to do hotel, particularly if non-refundable...

hmm... the plot thickens...
now maybe I am back to plan A, i.e. book F with miles.
Coming from AUS, it makes sense anyway. @:-)

Well, ANC-OME and back really isn't that long of a flight...

Yep... I am just fascinated by uncertainty.
And for me, AUS-SEA-ANC is F-worthy.

uva185, are there jewelers in Nome, and do they work on the weekend?
At least two jewelers...

Maruskiya's of Nome - Call Marty or Patti at 907-443-2955/5118 (not sure their hours)

Nome Custom Jewelry - 907-304-1818 - Open Mon-Sat 2pm-7pm

I would bet if you called in advance even if a store is typically closed they may accommodate you if you ask nicely.

Are you guys kidding?

You already grabbed all of the award seats (at least all they would show to Delta) on that Sunday morning flight out of OME?

That shows a blatant lack of hospitality and consideration for your invited guests.

Are they showing any more of them to you MVP SOBs?

When we made the initial arrangements, it was showing W7 (the max possible) with a wide-open aircraft. In fact, the very first draft of the schedule (flying into OME on the midday flight) only had W2, and one of the reasons I modified the schedule was to move us to a flight with more saver award space.

BOB W hasn't booked his ticket yet (and said he was planning on going revenue for this flight), so the only locals I know of that have booked anything are beckoa and me; even after we booked, it was still showing W7 on all flights.

I'm not sure what happened to that award space, but it certainly wasn't our intention to use it all up (nor do I think that is a fair accusation).

Perhaps I need to call in some certain high-level favors. Then again, I think you might be running into some of these high-level favor-givers in a couple of weekends in ALW. Why don't you talk to him when you get there (or hold him hostage for more award seats on that flight)?

monitor, please quit being so wishy-washy and tell us what you really think.

The DO sounds like fun and we had considered signing up but the itinerary is a bit ambitious for us retired folk whose idea of excitement is watching the Safeway truck unload at the local grocery store.
