We need a Teller Road Trip option if we are going to consider this for a future DO.

Are there 75 miles of unimproved roads where we can blow tires, lose dental fillings and crush kidneys? All the time being out of touch with the rest of the world and at the mercy of eagle-sized mosquitoes and rabid musk oxen?

If not, what "fun" would a DO in JUN be?

Here are some of the photos i took of the DO.

http://s241.photobucket.com/albums/f...023-26%202012/

Sorry it took so long to post them. I'm not sure why they are viewing from the end of the Do first, so start at the last tab (#9).

If we Do JUN next year, there will be a ferry ride involved, with a probable breakdown in the Gulf of Alaska just to keep it interesting.

We can have just as interesting problems if we go to Kodiak.

I'll check the schedule for possible rocket launches.

Chiniak/Pasagshak definitely has it's possibilities in this realm. Anton Larson Bay could include a few of the local bears for added flavor.

We will need one volunteer to be well seasoned to keep the Kodiak Bear happy while the rest of us RUNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN.................

I would imagine the average bear would find beckoa to be a tasty morsel but I do not think that he can run fast enough to lead the bears any distance away from us.

well we do have 40 miles of road, and you can run into bears (no joke!) or a bald eagle (I've seen this twice this year so far).

But there's a risk of debauchery of some form in Juneau... and yes, our lovely ferries can break down.

For those who were on the road trip 4x4 trail adventure mosquito-infested hike, I spotted this at the EAA museum in Oshkosh:

(Click for larger version, and be sure to read the placard.)

How did we miss this?? I think a return trip is needed.

A Nome re-DO would be great. We never did get to the other end of the road. However, Jazon must be in attendance as he will be required to affirm that all spare tires actually fit the vehicle they are in

And a stop over in OTZ could be added for something new......

Who knew? An Italian airship went to the North Pole in 1926? How much battery power does it take to run an espresso machine twice a day?
