My ex still has her Aadvantage address the same as mine and my father has his sent to my house since he stays here whenever he wants to go on a golf trip. Surprisingly none of us are getting anything lately. My last 60k/$3k 5/15 mailer came in March I believe.

Anyone else notice them drying up as well?

Nope. My 'twin brother' got two 65K/4K/4 months mailers a couple of weeks ago, maybe less, I don't write down when they arrive. Usually about 3 days apart. 2 per month like clockwork since Jan 2018.

Yes, I DO feel fortunate. Despite having to do $6K, (now $8K) in spend for myself and DW every 33 days, I'm not about to complain. ;)

Thanks for that. I just hate having my email filled up with Citi Apps. :)

Emailed apps

I've never gotten an emailed application, only snail mail. Is there a setting I'm missing?

I just got one for the first time today for my cat. I've never gotten one in over a year. I guess it's just random.

I've been drying up too. My last batch arrived maybe the 2nd week of April.

i am not sure if you are just starting citi AA apps or been in this for a while, but getting denied for "multiple applications of credit' is nothing new.
you can search for this happening in this thread (or previous year thread)

the easiest is to just wait and apply again after enough days have elapsed

I'm not OP, but I've encountered something that hasn't happened to both P2 and myself before. Last month, when P2 tried to apply, he got an instant denial message: "Unfortunately, we were not able to approve your application. You will receive written notification with details regarding our decision in approximately 7-10 days", and the letter in the mail said "you have submitted multiple applications".

Today, I just tried using a mailer again for myself, and I got the same instant denial message as P2.

I wonder if both of our accounts have some kind of restriction now. How long would you suggest that we wait from our last application attempt before trying to apply again? It doesn't seem that the 2/65 and 1/8 rule is applicable to our case, so I wonder if there's a different hidden rule that I didn't know about.

Such rejections were common throughout 2018. Review this thread, searching both for the term "multiple" and also for the acronym "MAC":

I would wait 60 days between apps for a little while (probably two apps / four months or maybe three and six) and then if you want you can go back to whatever frequency you were on before to see if the MAC trigger was just a temporary thing.

Wife with instant approval today with a successful app previously on April 30 (prior to that in January). So this fits the rules but i thought it might be a useful DP since some appear only eligible every 33 days.

jimbaum May 12, 2019 6:21 pm

My wife applied on 3/2 and 4/14 (approved for both). Decided to apply again today (5/12). This does not violate the 2 cards in 60-day rule. The app process cleared the application screen and she received an app ID.
Received a phone call in about an hour from Citi, after responding to a text message if they can contact us.
The wife was told that she's approved but would not receive any bonus since she opened a card within a month ago. She told them to cancel the app.

Too bad I wasn't close by as I would've suggested that she let them process the app and get the card open; we would see what really happens (anecdotal evidence of CSR not knowing what they are talking about). Although I would have thought she would still have received the bonus. But that window had already closed so no data point to confirm.

Hopefully, this is just a one-off mad Citi rep for having to work on Mother's Day :P

apply once every 60+ days, then drop to every 55 days, every 50 days, every 45 days etc.
eventually you will figure out a pattern for yourself at which threshold you will begin to hit the MAC wall.

Chat for match today:
Me: For accounted ending in xxxx I signed up for an offer of 60,000 miles after a $3000 spend. I see now you have a 65,0000 offer. Could I have 5000 miles added to my offer as a courtesy?

Tania (CSR): Robert, I have successfully raised request to match offer for 65000 miles for you. Our accounts specialists will work on this and you will be notified about the approval in 3-5 days.

Will report back result. I think 5-7 minutes of time is worth the 5k points.

She should try to call back and re-open. Not sure if that will work but it can't hurt to try. This is classic CSR misinformation.
