FAQ
1. Are these cards churnable?
Yes, they are. BUT you’ll have to wait anywhere from 12 to 26 months before applying again. Approvals have happened at the 13 month mark and denials at 24.
There is no set 18 month rule, but always err on the side of caution when churning.
Also- it’s from DATE OF APPROVAL and not from date of cancellation.
2.What are the most current rules in applying for these cards?
#ONLY ONE APPLICATION in a day (make that 30 hours to be safe)
#No more than 2 apps in 65 (approximately) days.
Example:
Day 1 40K personal platinum
Day 2 or later 25-30K personal gold
65+ days later 40K business
While the day limits are a little flexible by a few days either way and YMMV, the rules themselves are not flexible.
3. How long does it take for the Admiral passes to arrive?
For the better part, it takes about 3 months. This is not a set number, and some have received theirs sooner. It's been deduced that the passes are handled by a 3rd party that mails them in batches. Please don’t call Citi for the passes, because you’ll mostly find a CSR who doesn't know better and will give you wrong information.
4. Can I apply for a business card if I don’t have a business?
Technically, you can. But you may be asked for a 4506-T form, or to provide proof of business or/and a copy of a bill with your business name on it. If you don't already have a credit history for the business name you plan to use (meaning this is your first rodeo) then it is recommended you use your name as the business name with no income and 0 as years in business.
5. How do I get the statement credit?
First, you have to make sure if the offer you signed up for gave you A $150 credit or UP TO A $150 statement credit. For the 1st, any AA coded purchase ($50 AA GC seems to be the simplest option here) will/should trigger it. For the 2nd, you’ll have to spend $150 to get the $150 credit.
For more information on what will work and what won’t, please see here (thanks sdsearch) and here (thanks dogbyte)
6. Does the $150 account credit (for AA purchases using the VISA or AMEX) count against the spending required to receive the initial mileage bonus?
No. It does not. (Put differently: any account credit you receive has no impact on your spending total for purposes of earning the "X thousand miles for $Y spent in the first Z months" bonus.)
7. Can I buy Visa gift cards to meet my minimum spend?
There’s a very good chance that it’ll be coded as a cash advance.
It’s recommended to call citi and have them set your Cash Advance limit to zero. (thanks KennyBSAT)
8. Do I get 10% back when redeeming miles for awards?
It depends. First, the rebate program (which began in April 2012) applies only to holders of these cards:
Also, the maximum rebate for any cardholder in a single calendar year is 10,000 miles. Having more than one qualifying Citi AA card will not allow you to receive a larger rebate; the restriction applies per AAdvantage account.
9. At what locations are my one day Club passes valid?
All valid locations are listed here.

How exact is the 90 days
I have read that the 65 days to wait after personal to apply for biz is inexact... in that the start of the count can be +/- a few days. Does the same apply for 90 days between Citi apps? I applied last on June 6th and am wondering if I can pull the trigger on Sep 5 (91 days) or if I should wait an extra couple of days (in which case I would wait until Sep 10th to avoid doing all my apps on a Friday)

It's not 65 days between personal and biz, or 90 days between Citi apps. You've got them vice versa!
It's 65 days between Citi apps (of any kind), and 90 days between personal and biz.
The 65 days is actually already pre-padded. It's officially 60 days, but Citi has been known to deny your application for the "60 days" reason after 61 or 62 (or maybe even 63?) days. So we add a couple days for safety and round up and call it "65 days" for simplicity.
But anyways, yes, since Citi has been known to be off on the "60 days" count by more than 1 day, I'd recommend assuming the same on the "90 days" count to be safe.

I couldn't find a similar situation when searching the thread so I apologize if this has already been answered...
I signed up for the citiBiz offer that included 50k miles, 2 lounge passes, & $150 credit (fly7 offer?) awhile ago. Recently, I purchased a $7 drink onboard a AA flight and it showed up correctly on the statement as a AA purchase. However, I never saw the credit so I sent a secure message and they responded saying:
"We received your recent inquiry regarding a $150.00 statement credit and we will be happy to try and assist you today.
On 1/XX/12 your account was enrolled in an offer to earn a $150.00 statement credit after your first ticket purchase with American Airlines within 12 months. You have until 1/31/13 to meet your threshold.
We are unable to locate the charge for a ticket purchase...."
This message was obviously shortened up, but the important part is bolded & underlined. Was this ever an offer requirement? I don't have a screenshot of the offer anymore so I don't have proof, but I thought all of the statement credits were triggered by ANY purchase on AA.

Some of the CS people are misinformed or "guess" at the rules. That's way easier to figure out and try to work around on an interactive discussion (like a live call or a chat, but I don't think Citi offers a chat service so live call is the only interactive way with Citi AFAIK) than on a one-way-at-a-time discussion like email / secure message (where you're likely to get an irrelevant form letter if you reply, because each email tends to be answered by a different person who doesn't read the whole thing!).
Also, which card did you use, and exactly how did the drink purchase show up?
Citi had an issue in the past with getting AA purchases to register as AA purchases (not just for this credit, but also for double miles) on the Amex where they showed up as "AA AIR", but always worked on the AA Visa where they showed up as "AMERICAN AIRLINES" (perhaps cut off in the middle of the second word, but at any rate "AMERICAN" as the first word).
(It thus took me months to get the credit on my Amex straightened out, while the Visa posted automatically. But that was many many months ago, and I would hope they would have that straightened out by now, but then again I wouldn't count on it!)

Citi AAdvantage 50K signup bonus
I can confirm that the links in the topmost post for the 50K signup bonus are still working for both the Visa and Amex cards, as of today, September 3. I applied for both cards simultaneously using those links (and 2 different Web browsers), then spoke with Citi customer service reps, who confirmed that the accounts were coded for the 50K promotion. The Amex application opened a pop-up chat window with a Citi rep, who confirmed my name, address, and phone. The Visa application asked me to call in, which I did, and the Citi rep confirmed the same info. That was it. Just wanted to provide another data point.

Cards issued pre-April 12 still get the 10% rebate on redeemed miles, right?

Before you worry about how exact the 90 days or 65 days is, get it right as to which is which.

Stop emailing them (secure messaging them) and call and talk to a live person. If their answer in unsatisfactory, ask to speak to a supervisor. If that answer is unsatisfactory, call back at a different time (when you're bound to get someone else).

I guess I'll have to give them a call when I have time but just didn't feel like being put on hold forever since time is worth a lot to me for the next few months....

Just to confirm, how strict is Citi with recent hard pulls? Next month will be 18 months since I got the Citi AA cards. I've had 3 HPs in the last 2 weeks. I'm wondering if I should wait another couple months if Citi will deny me from the recent hard pulls.

Probably just missed seeing this posted somewhere but Citi is offering an AAdvantage Platinum Select card with signup bonus of 40K/$3k in 3mos/1st yr fee ($95) waived. Maybe not as good as the 50K Visa and AMEX expired-but-still-working offers, but this one is active and comes with some perks that the others may not have.
By the way, is this the correct thread for this sort of posting?
