If you feel your account has been unfairly closed, consider filing a complaint with the Consumer Protection Financial Bureau:

CFPB's complaint form: http://www.consumerfinance.gov/complaint/

When someone reports an account closure here, a lot of the same questions get asked. It might be useful to answer some questions in advance. This could help figure out what happened or how to proceed:
  1. Did you transfer UR points to someone with a different address? Different last name?
  2. Did you sell UR points to someone?
  3. Approximately what percentage of your charges earned less than 5x points in the past 12 months?
  4. Did a Chase or non-Chase bank recently close one of your credit cards?
  5. Are you using up a large percentage of your credit line on all Chase and non-Chase credit cards?
  6. Is your total credit line with Chase much higher than with other banks?
  7. Did you apply for many credit cards or other forms of credit in the past 2 months? ("Many" may be hard to define.)
  8. If you have a Chase checking account how much did you typically deposit in money orders per month, if any?
  9. Did you recently start spending a lot more with Chase than in typical months?
  10. Is your monthly balance frequently close to your credit limit?
  11. Approximately what percentage of spending was on gift cards this year?
  12. How much of your bill do you typically pay using WM or KMart bill payment if any?
  13. Do you have a Chase mortgage or other account that might be profitable to Chase?
  14. Has your credit score or credit profile changed recently? As in: significantly more debt, more open credit lines, or a large drop in your credit score?

I logged into my chase account today (I have multiple CC and banking relationships under one login)

My Ink bold shows "not available", UR side doesn't even show this account.
When i go into this account via another account of mine, i'm able to see account activity history. I am able to see everything via the mobile app.
I understand if it is the wknd, but i've never seen it during the week.

I tried calling the 800 number, they said no issues w the card, read off the proper point balance.

Is this the first sign of a shut down or just a technical glitch?

Exact same thing happened to me with Amex and I freaked out but then all was fine on the mobile app. Regular website resolved about half hour later. While that wasn't chase, it seems like a computer glitch and that's it.

Right before my statement closing dates, my Ink always shows no activity. It's odd, but it does happen. I rarely log into my account at exactly that time, but I have seen the same messages. The first time, I was worried. But the second time, I knew it was something to do with the closing of the current statement (and the timing was just right for the statement closing).

Same thing happened to me a month ago and I nearly **** a brick thinking I was hit with the ban hammer!
The mobile app was fine though and after a while the main website came back to its senses.

Im in a similar spot where the cards are closed but Chase acts like they are still open.

I'm still waiting to reapply but, in the meantime, I am still getting the IHG and Hyatt free nights along with the UA cardholder benefits.

I think that that there is a glitch in the card shutdown process where parts are left active.

Why not call the main CS number (not recon) and try the auto menu with old card number. See what happens. Then talk to rep and only ask about the old one. Say that you can still see it online (and possibly access via auto menu). And say you want to make sure it is 100% closed with no lingering active status. Maybe they can see something and permanently close it. Then call recon.

I must be one some deep level black list. I last had a Chase checking account in 2010 into which I did deposit $5k to $20k per month in dollar coins. One time the teller almost certainly filed a suspicious activity report on me. I definitely was not "structuring" because I think it is physically impossible to move $10k in dollar coins on the sidewalks of Manhattan. That realization may escape them though.

I opened an account on Monday to get the $350 promo. Yesterday I received a letter dated Tuesday stating they can "no longer service [my] account." I thought it would at least take a few weeks.

Chase never had any direct loses from me. I never paid a card late. No one ever told me I could not deposit dollar coins. Has anyone else been blacklisted for such a long period due to dollar coin deposits? At seven years running, I suspect this might be indefinite. I am not even sure dropping a few $100k into private client services would help.

If Chase marked you as a money launderer or some other kind of high risk client in the past I doubt they will ever do business with you again. And this goes for probably every bank out there. Nobody wants to take on that kind of risk.

Banking and credit cards are running differently, in my experience. It seems that if Chase closed a checking account in the past, then all new applications will be approved but closed a few days later, while you can get a credit cards again after shutdown. This it was happened to me in the past. My checking with Chase was closed few years ago (together with credit cards), and even if I was able to get Chase cards again, my new checking account was closed as soon as I opened it.

Am I risking it?

Approved for ink preferred in early January for 7k. Hit 5k spend in a month with 1VGC for 500.

Applied and approved for CSP 2/12, called immediately to see if I could cancel and reapply with different link. Did so and approved again. Ended up as 2 pulls even though they said it would be 1. Applied and denied for SW BIZ on 2/13, reconned and approved after explaining double CSP pull.

Have had my new CSP flagged for fraud 3 times in 24 hours. The first was for a VGC. In each case I've been able to call and have them remove the hold. is this as bad of a sign as it seems? Isnt CSP sort of known for having really strong anti fraud protection?

You've gotten 3 Chase premium cards in roughly a month. I never would've done that in the first place, but since you have I would suggest slowing down on all cards. Your profile with Chase must be a giant red flag for them.

You're flying too close to the sun.

Chase closed my IHG card 2 weeks after it was opened

Hey all,

So my wife recently applied for the IHG card and was approved after calling reconsideration. 2 weeks later (after receiving the card and the welcome letter), she received another letter from Chase saying that her account is closed.

After calling in again, they said the reason was that the card was approved in error and after doing an internal audit, they realized her credit file was too thin and so sent the second letter saying the account is now closed.

My question: is Chase legally allowed to do this? This seems shady and it seems like there should be something against this. Is this something we can CFPB? Thanks.

You'll find that Chase in your agreement can close whenever it wants, so I doubt there's anything you can do.
