When someone reports an account closure here, a lot of the same questions get asked. It might be useful to answer some questions in advance. This could help figure out what happened or how to proceed:
- Did you transfer UR points to someone with a different address? Different last name?
- Did you sell UR points to someone?
- Approximately what percentage of your charges earned less than 5x points in the past 12 months?
- Did a Chase or non-Chase bank recently close one of your credit cards?
- Are you using up a large percentage of your credit line on all Chase and non-Chase credit cards?
- Is your total credit line with Chase much higher than with other banks?
- Did you apply for many credit cards or other forms of credit in the past 2 months? ("Many" may be hard to define.)
- If you have a Chase checking account how much did you typically deposit in money orders per month, if any?
- Did you recently start spending a lot more with Chase than in typical months?
- Is your monthly balance frequently close to your credit limit?
- Approximately what percentage of spending was on gift cards this year?
- How much of your bill do you typically pay using WM or KMart bill payment if any?
- Do you have a Chase mortgage or other account that might be profitable to Chase?
- Has your credit score or credit profile changed recently? As in: significantly more debt, more open credit lines, or a large drop in your credit score?

Was your first shutdown due to MS? I agree that getting eyes on your account post shutdown is what got you shutdown this time. After all of that, did the dispute even get resolved? They should still resolve the issue since you had a valid credit card account when you filed it. If not, cfpb them.

If Chase closes your card for a reason other than perk abuse, do they still confiscate all the UR points immediately or will they let you transfer out?

I agree, reading the DPs are eyeopener. In general AMEX comes shining. The big difference is AMEX handles the claims with in house insurance dept while other banks contracted the function to 3rd party companies.

So, in the future, when I will be able to open a Chase card again, I will be always SOL, if eyes would be on my account for any reason? Like they never forget....

Chase gives you like 30 day window to do whatever with your points. Citi confiscates them.

Unless your 1st shutdown was related to not paying your bills or something of that nature, you should be able to get back in few years down the road. I think 2-4 year DP was thrown around here but I can't remember for sure. Also, I think one can apply and hold on to Ritz card after shutdown. Again I don't 100% recall this but I believe there was a DP here regarding Ritz.

That's true. But it seems I wouldn't be able to use any benefits of the card (charge dispute, claims, etc), because of the eyes...

As for the benefits of the cards, well, consider that you have been able to get sign up bonuses again after initial shutdown versus many others couldn't...
Or if you feel that is not enough, then just tell Chase to go hell and you put the spend elsewhere.

I was shut down March 2014. I got back in with chase reserve in October. No CC signups in past 2 years (due to mortgage). I also opened another ink plus Mid Oct in Branch. Gto approved for that as well.
I logged in to my ink plus account and it says closed.
I haven't put any MS type charges on my account. I bought a software license from swtizerland for my work and not sure if that got eyes om my account.
Sapphire reserve is still open. It would be terrible if that gets cancelled.

How many times you were shut down by Chase? IIRC you were the only one who was able to reopen a card in less than 18 months after initial shut down. Then it was shutdown again. Then you were able to open another card...

My MS was $2K per statement with other legitimate purchases. Since the card (fairmont) earning 1 pt I don't believe chase did care about ms on that card. Especially, my CL was $33K. No new CC recently. CL utilization across the board was < 1%.

3 times. The last one was very quick - after 3 months from opening the card. After first shutdown, my cards were opened for 1.5 years. Now I mostly think that my second and third shutdown were due to charge dispute (because it happened shortly after I filed a dispute) and human attention to my account.

You want to stay under the radar for a long time so to "rebuild" the relationship... just sayin.
