Word of Caution: Closed Accounts + Chase GCs on Additional "Employees"

Ladies,

My Chase accounts have been closed. I was sitting on 190K UR points. Goodness only knows if I will see them again.

In my quest to drink from the perpetual water fountain that is CGCs, I "hired" two additional people and allowed them to purchase 2600 in GCs each, but spaced at intervals between themselves and my own card. (All in all, 7800 total)

Employee #1's GCs came and they were quickly liquidated... But lo and behold, #2's didn't arrive. A week after they should have arrived I called to inquire, and was told to call back in another week if they haven't arrived.

Fast-forward to yesterday night, I go to fill up the old gas tank and my Ink isn't working. 'No big deal' I think to myself, but woeful was my ignorance. After filling up courtesy of my AMEX, I called Chase on the way home and was politely, but unapologetically informed that all of my accounts have been closed, although a firm reason was hard to come by. Calling back during regular business hours today may yield a more telling answer...

To Be Continued!

P.S.

I hope that my tale can serve as some guidance or as a data point for those amongst us that are considering similar actions.

Sorry to hear this.

Other than the "new staff," how much were you doing on other (non-Ink) cards? Was there any significant additional spend on these cards beyond the CGC's?

This is bad juju. If this is the leading edge of an AccountNow experience, then many of us may want to move to convert URs to some other program.

To Add:

On the primary account, I was making legitimate business purchases of approximately 4K/month at Home Depot, Lowes, Gas Stations, Various Lighting Manufacturers.

Ooops...

I just 'hired' the rest of the family to load up with GCs.
May have to reconsider this now.

Thanks for the heads-up!

Oh what scammers they have become!!

Now sue chase
go right to SC court and dont bother with anything else.

You need the 190k points back or their value at the highest redemption rate available. Take advice from the citi TYP thread.

they offered the Chase GC. You followed their tcs.
SUE THEM

sorry but I know I am right about it.

they will settle out of court and give you the money plus any costs.

I am sorry about your situation. I read in one of the blogs(don't remember the name), the blogger suggested to apply for extra "Employee" cards and request them ASAP to order Chase Gift Cards.

We need to draw a boundary on what is comfortable for us(learnt this hard way with HIGC cards) and stay within our comfort zone.

Unfortunately, I have no legal recourse for this. The best I can see happening is a bit of reconsideration.

Legally speaking, their agreement with me that I consented to upon application states that they can close my account for virtually any reason and can do as they wish with my UR points
