If you feel your account has been unfairly closed, consider filing a complaint with the Consumer Protection Financial Bureau:

CFPB's complaint form: http://www.consumerfinance.gov/complaint/

When someone reports an account closure here, a lot of the same questions get asked. It might be useful to answer some questions in advance. This could help figure out what happened or how to proceed:
  1. Did you transfer UR points to someone with a different address? Different last name?
  2. Did you sell UR points to someone?
  3. Approximately what percentage of your charges earned less than 5x points in the past 12 months?
  4. Did a Chase or non-Chase bank recently close one of your credit cards?
  5. Are you using up a large percentage of your credit line on all Chase and non-Chase credit cards?
  6. Is your total credit line with Chase much higher than with other banks?
  7. Did you apply for many credit cards or other forms of credit in the past 2 months? ("Many" may be hard to define.)
  8. If you have a Chase checking account how much did you typically deposit in money orders per month, if any?
  9. Did you recently start spending a lot more with Chase than in typical months?
  10. Is your monthly balance frequently close to your credit limit?
  11. Approximately what percentage of spending was on gift cards this year?
  12. How much of your bill do you typically pay using WM or KMart bill payment if any?
  13. Do you have a Chase mortgage or other account that might be profitable to Chase?
  14. Has your credit score or credit profile changed recently? As in: significantly more debt, more open credit lines, or a large drop in your credit score?

Was approved for Ritz Carlton card 14 months later and did nothing unusual with it, other than lower CL from 30K to 10K to free up CL for possible approvals. Two subsequent Chase apps (Chase Ink and Marriott Rewards), on separate dates 3+ months later, were declined for a "previous unsatisfactory relationship ..."
662 - frogdog51 - Chase VGCs (Reapproved in 12 months)

Tried EX Office- they seem to have zero power once the Mullah in loss prevention has issued a fatwa (my guess: some 27 year old with a god complex).

What was the balance on the card when the statement closed?

Shutdown alert:
We (SO and I) got letters in the mail about all our Chase CC accounts (personal and business) being closed. The weird thing is that all our cards are still working and we were able to transfer all the UR points to United.
Not sure what exactly triggered it, but I think it was the WM BP. Most (70%) of the spending on the cards (United MP, CSP, Ink, Ink+ etc) were MS.
We didn't have any checking account with Chase and there were no MO deposits.

How many/much were you pushing through a month with BP from WM?

Lucky you got your points out.

As a data point, accounts apparently get purged at 120 days. After reliving the nightmare in my head and having some glimmer of hope, unfortunately my accounts were purged and I wasn't able to get my points out the back door. Good luck to the rest of y'all.

About 4K max per card. So about 16K across 4 cards.

Almost similar numbers with my SO's cards as well (4K x 4 - 16K). We were not even any where close to our CL on these cards. After the united deval, I stopped MS'ing much on Chase cards.

So you and your SO had a combined 32k of debt? What was your reported income?

Chase shut down all my & SO personal accounts on April 24. No notice or heads up. I have Ink Bold and Ink Plus that are still active as of today. When I called Chase, they were able to process payout for UR in my Freedom and points in Amazon account ($.01 per point) and will get me a check in 10 days (about $500).

I am still able to log into my accounts and was able to transfer the points in my wifes CSP and Freedom accounts to Hyatt and KE (100,000+ points). moved Freedom points to CSP then Hyatt and KE.

As a safety measure I transferred all my Ink UR points to Hyatt and KE. So, at this point, I have about 750 UR points over all accounts.

My activity: $40K on Hyatt card this year ... almost all CVS MS ... to get 10 stay credits. About $10K accross all other personal cards. I pay almost all my CC bills at WM ($2K at a time ... so lots of bill pay activity). $25K on 2 Ink cards whoich are still active and I will hit Staples MC offer this week 5X. I'm sure my Ink will be shut down shortly.

Not the end of the world ... I have a 3 year supply of points so will focus on AMEX GC with Fidelity Amex for 4% return. Also have Prestige card which gets me good deals for AA travel for business trips. Should be enough to pay for all other trip expenses .... so 3 years of luxury cost free travel for the next 3 years.

My plan is to wait 2 years then open a chase checking account at local branch and see if they will give me some CC (with sign-up bonus, of course).

Looks like we have a similar situation.

All my accounts are still working, Ink statement closed this weekend and the points posted. I transferred out just now.

Also the letter that they sent states that I have 90days to transfer the points out. Of course, I don't believe that and dont want to take a chance.

My United card closes in a few weeks. I hit the 25K spending, really curious to see if they post the 10K bonus.

We have a few similarities.
1. WM BP
2. Ramping up spending on cards ( my case United, you did Hyatt)
3. MS in staples/OM
4. Both self and SO accounts closed

So for folks that wants to keep relationship with chase, go easy on the above. YMMV.

I wonder if Chase blacklists after account closure.
