When you say there is free Wifi for everyone, do you mean free wifi for everyone in all classes? Honestly I'm surprised if that is what you mean considering CX only extended free wifi to J guests earlier in the year, so I expected free wifi for everyone to come along much further down the line. I'm pleased to see this change, but they would need much better wifi (Starlink??!!) in order to provide decent internet speeds to everyone onboard.

Most probably after the wifi trial for Diamond and maybe Emeralds are concluded, then they will rollout free for all. Just like most airlines starting with Premium first before all.

got off PVGHKG today, a few seats were blocked as they were not working. My seat also had a broken component and the door could only open fully by holding it underneath and not sideways.
p.s. I tried to lie flat for ~15 minutes. I think I hit my knees for around 3-4 times...... I think it is definitely a regretful tradeoff getting the big screen now (p.p.s. our captain turned off the camera - oh well) for 1) the IFE console taking away half a window and 2) the footwell shrinking back to 'industry standard' rather than the very spacious (both vertically and horizontally) signature trademark of the previous generation CX seats. Bigger Thoughts *Closing my eyes in seating position, it felt very similar to current Cirrus. Good! *The bones of Aria's seat itself are very similar to Starlux J. For CX to say this is revolutionary or whatever, to say nothing about this silly name "Aria", is a big stretch. Frequent fliers will be very familiar with everything here; it's a mash-up of good elements of seats already in existence. I don't think that's a bad thing, to be clear! It's just a nuanced evolution of what's on the market already, not at all a revolution/breakthrough.) *The touches of Aria's seat I think are better than Starlux. Wireless charging outside, tons of plugs (USB, USB-C 2x, regular plug) in clever position so the cords don't impede on your sitting space. Nice, soft lighting. A cool little way to slide your side table to reveal a tiny personal items storage area. Great controls. CX is patting themselves on the back for their touches/accents to the seat and honestly, I think they deserve it, at least after my short 2.5 hour ride. *Felt wider than Starlux J. Not sure if this is CX touches or the fact it's just 777 is wider than A350. Or something with the angle of seat. anyway I like it. *Definitely lose footwell space for sleeping, this sucks. Like G-CIVC's comments and just general speculation beforehand. Unfortunate but inevitable given the seat design. *Door seems good, although the crew had issues locking mine. But I am a big fan of doors and glad we finally have one. *We lost some seat storage space for laptops, papers, pads, etc. This is a bummer. (A lot smaller storage than the top-open containers on the side that Cirrus J, especially in A350 and 777, has.) *Bigger side table I *think* will make it easier to have personal/work stuff out while also eating. Big Win: Middle Seats *Single travelers AND couples! The D/G seats are much better on Aria than Cirrus IMO. *The D/G seats are far superior in my view on Aria than Cirrus. Because you now have proper privacy. All us CX regulars know on CX J we strongly prefer window if traveling alone. (In fact, in some cases in past I didn't buy longhaul seats if only D/G left!) I like looking out window, but I'll hardly feel like I got an inferior seat in the middle now. Very private. *D/G for a couple, the privacy slider in-between seats is long, it's at least 3x the size of the Starlux one in my view. I've tried Starlux with wife and child and it's basically like you're not sitting together even with the Starlux slider open, since it's so narrow. Cathay has solved for this by just making the slider a lot bigger (about half the size of the Starlux F one, for comparison). I think it's a brilliant move. So D/G is clearly the go-to for a couple, since you can get more privacy with the doors + a large enough slider in between you can leave open, to make it feel like you're traveling "together". Smaller Problems *Crew seemed to have a hard time with my door; it wouldn't retract the last few inches. Eventually they solved it. *The magazine storage thing is too small; it barely fits CX's own "Cathay" magazine (you kinda have to jam it in; CX is going to burn through a lot of Cathay mags which will get torn/bent up, because it's not easy to slide it in correctly. I think technically it just fits in there like engineering-wise, but in practice this is stupid, because you must position the mag totally at the right angle from above (extremely hard to do with your seat belt on, or just leaning forward from seat with it off), you're going to jam it in and tear/bend pages.). Forget about getting a laptop or pad of paper or something else in there with it and the safety cards. *The seat/video controller (the main one on the wire) cannot be used in the standard storage position, at least mine couldn't. You have to pull it out a bit. This is a small annoyance - I'm not someone who likes leaving things laying around my seat area, but to use the controller it basically has to be laying out loose from the storage bay. When it's in the storage/locked position, you can't use it to adjust your seat, etc. Which is how I generally like to use those controllers. *All this said with the catch that, I only did a single 2.5 hour flight from PVG so YMMV!!! If I think of anything later I'll try to add. |

As announced at media event, most probably the second 77J will be ready for SIN route next month. LON route CX255/250 will get 77J in January 2025.

Pretty sure they will update the seat maps (for CX739/734) once the 2nd 77J is out. They didn't update the PEK flights until 8-10 days before Oct 18th inaugural flight FYI.
Wonder why they still not update the HKG-SIN 777 yet, on the other hand the HKG-NRT already updated. |

Good to know! Same pattern as well for HKG-NRT on their 777, right?

I took CX 367 PVG-HKG yesterday, and got the Aria. My observations:
- took a short nap after the meal, and the padding of the seat/bed seems better than before. - not a fan of the smaller footwell. - also not a fan of the fixed screen. I frequently bumped my knees against the screen while in the sleeping position. Much preferred the old J in this aspect. - the seat and lighting controls takes some getting used to. - I could not find anywhere to put my sneakers. There used to be a small cubbyhole under the armrest, but that storage is gone. The triangular storage on the side of the seat would not fit my sneakers. - Sat in 19A (which is my preferred seat right after the galley in the second J cabin). Not sure if the seat config is now closer to the galley than before, but I found that crew noise transferred much louder to my seat. Or, I could have just had a chatty crew, who spoke very loudly. In any case, had to go to the galley to request them to be quiet. If I were taking a long haul flight and/or needed to catch up on some shuteye, would definitely not choose this seat anymore. |

Tried the Aria suite on CX 479 TPE-HKG recently. I was in 11K. Nice to look at, softer color tone but I prefer the signature green color scheme in current business class. Overall I feel the seat is a bit restrictive, less spacious esp in the footwell than the current business class seat. Found it a nuisance to try to find an appropriate place to put my sneakers. Nice sharper TV screen. Wireless phone charging mostly did not work. The front galley was not used and I could hear very clearly the conversations between two crew members when they were chatting there after service concluded. This is a bit annoying. I usually tried to pick the first row when i was traveling in business class on CX and I seldom could overhear others' conversations so clearly. Could this be due to a change in the design or the use of different substance for the walls or other things that amplify the sounds/noise? Overall, I prefer the current A350 business class seats.

Just paid $28000 HKD for a C seat that's 2-3-2 configuration. It's borderline criminal, Aria Suite can't be delivered quick enough...
