I was on CX521 today with B-KPF. I think they tweaked the emergency door latches in business (with new stickers) and it seemed to glide smoother (but could be just my impression after taking a few flights with quasi broken doors)

I thought this was already well-known, back to last year? It's based on the Elements platform but customised to an almost bespoke extent.

Looks like B-KPF is back in service HKG-NRT as of today January 12th. Does anyone have an updated list of planes with Aria suites, current routes, and planes being retrofitted?

I heard that CX will deploy Aria Suite on one LHR pair between Jan 22-31, 2025, on the following flight:

CX255 HKG 2335-0620+1 LHR
CX250 LHR 1750-1435+1 HKG.

Only 4x weekly for that period, on Mon, Wed, Fri and Sun HKG departure

is that a 3rd aircraft required (say B-KQH) for daily long haul operations ?

So would that mean the Tuesday flight from LHR-HKG would have it as that's the Monday HKG-LHR incoming flight?

That makes sense to me with 2x frames.

While you could technically do a >12 hour one-way route like LHR with just 2 frames, I think practically you need a spare due to the inevitable delays, weather, medical, or tech issues that regularly arise in airline operations from time to time.

If you are running such a route daily with only 2 applicable frames, you are pretty much guaranteed to be regularly swapping one out due to the above-mentioned reasons. That would lead to more complex issues. 3x frames seems the right number for daily long-haul ops.

Worth mentioning I have never worked for an airline so I'm not really sure how people who do this for a living think about it.

The ground staff at LHR always joke about this, especially for 254 ;)

You couldn't do it daily with two airframes. Plus the long sit in London on the 255/250 rotation may actually require a fourth airframe to be able to offer daily service to LHR. 253/254 as it has a very short turnaround in LHR could probably make LHR work for daily service with 3 airframes.

Indeed back in Oct when I checked in for 254 agent joked “I hope it’s not delayed or cancelled again tonight, been a traumatic past few days for us” lol

As mentioned above, the short rotation for 253/254 makes it really challenging to operate. If 253 comes in even a bit late 254 is guaranteed to be delayed. It also doesn’t help that 254 is one of the last flights to be out of LHR.

250/255 seems to be the better pair to trial long haul aria.
