There are 4 B777s in Xiamen since October, and all of them are still there, so any possibilities they will come back at the same time in January? And have Cathay planned what's after Narita yet?

B-KQH will come back to Hong Kong at late-January and B-KPF will come back to Hong Kong by late-February, long-haul Aria flights will commence at late-March 2025 with London being the first long-haul 77J destination which it will be CX253/254. 77Js will begin flying to Singapore from late-January to late-March.

Again, there's no other evidence to prove this.... [mod edit]

not sure where you get the info that there are 5 B777 in Xiamen. Checking through the records, there are only 3 (including B-KQV) in Xiamen now

Thanks for the heads up here. I didn't get / didn't see the email.

Went to try it this morning. Looks pretty good, on balance. Excited to see it rolled out.

Footrest area definitely tighter, which could be a real pain. We'll see. . Seems I'm short enough though that my knees won't be trapped as well.

What did they give you in terms of discounts/goodies?

Didn't know that was an option. I wanted to get in and out quickly so focused onbthag.. and the most staff on hand seemed be an events company not cx staff ..

I went yesterday.

Goodies were
1) destination luggage tag retail worth 110hkd
2) customizable boarding pass with your name on it. (Wait up to an hour)

Discount code I chucked as it was useless for me. Basically terms were, 25% discount for PE and business class, conditions are minimum 3 business class or PE tickets bought in same ticket, to select destinations (short haul SEA only), buy before Dec 31, and travel date must be before march 31. Not useful to me at all

B-KPO will be grounded at HKG from 21st January 2025 due to route issues.

Tried the Aria and new PE demo at Pacific Place (to 10/1)

https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...f3c9ccf88.jpeg

Aria: definitely less legroom than before. More easy to kick the top of the foot cubby than FB2. Still not too bad in terms of space (eg more than Finnair Airlounge)

New PE: definitely less recline than before (staff assert same recline, but we don’t agree). Maybe same pitch, but the seats don’t recline as much, less arguments with back row over access.

Where there any things you liked when trying the new seat?

Or still reckon the current seat is better?

stephbal Jan 7, 2025 1:11 am

Thanks, is the new Aria same pitch as the FB2?

simonjp Jan 8, 2025 7:32 am

I went today. The queue for the Aria was long; even at 1900 it took nearly 50minutes to get "in". There are two seats, one is "full" with the door and tv turned on, the door has about 1ft gap at the bottom. The front seat misses some of those features as it is a middle set rather than the bulkhead version. If you try the front seat, the queue is shorter and you can use a Meta Quest 3 to get a VR view.

The overall space is fairly large, with good shelving and what feels like a sturdier and larger table, but the foot well does feel smaller, and perhaps it's overall a little shorter. I could feel the end, I don't recall that from the current offering. The cabin-crew uniformed staff explained that the seat level is lower so that you feel more cocooned inside your space; but the screen doesn't tilt, so it's a bit difficult for your neck to watch tv whilst lying down - you'll need to incline slightly. There is a small storage cupboard that you might want to put shoes, but that's unlikely to work; it's too small. The current one is bigger?

After taking a photo and uploading to social media; you can "redeem" the boarding pass with discount code and tonight was a Chengdu tote bag.

No queue to test PE!
