B-LRG (8th CX A350) delivered....but no J seats again

Probably another 15-25 days before B-LRG sees commercial service. Likely right before year-end. Y seats installed but J most certainly aren't, will be done in Asia.

I heard the other day that CX are so furious over the seat delays that the 1000s will all be fitted out in HKG.

But does that mean sourcing from a different manufacturer?

I'm not actually sure how fitting the seats in HK fixes the problems for CX. I thought the problem was the manufacturer couldn't supply in time vs their ability to install. But I don't know all the details.

Not unless Zodiac produces them in China (hence the quality issues we have been experiencing) at least they don't need to ship the seat modules to France.

wow. I didn't know that. But I know there were (once again) issues upon CX's acceptance in TLS. I've seen pics inside LRG. Y class installed, J class bins installed...floor rack things installed....but J seats missing, just like the others that arrived for a fit-out in Asia.

thx, just updated the CX Fleet, Route and Configuration Guide with your info.

March 26 is going to be a busy day for CX A359 launches, btw! BNE, YVR and TLV all launch A359 service that day.

Do you have any idea why fitting them out in HK seems to solve the problem? It seems like the planes can be fitted out almost immediately upon arrival, so seems the seats are ready, but they just don't have people to screw them in, in France?

Zodiac has an assembly plant in Tianjin....seats could be coming from there.

I don't know any more than that, but the person who told me would be in a position to know the latest thinking. This is the whole aircraft btw not just the J cabin.

Excellent news!! ^ Shame it's not next week for me! Flying out of Gatwick to get the A350. Would have been great to continue on. Next time.

Shame that the 156 connects onto B777 into LHR. May have to consider a long layover or a stop over in HKG to get the A350 back.

Why is it a shame? The difference between CXs B777 and A350 product really isn't that dramatic.

Especially compared to other differences we've seen, like B744/A343 vs B777/A350, where you actually have fundamentally different hard products. There are definitely nice, small and real improvements the A350 but it's not a sea change...and the B777 seats are actually ever so slightly bigger.

Nor does the A359 have F, if that's a factor for you. Just saying I really don't think it's a dramatic difference! This isn't like back in 2007-2009, when CX had part of the J fleet with slanty J seats and the other half with flat beds. Now THAT was a shame when you got the slanty seats!

If you're into IFE (and sensitive to bad video resolution!) its a dramatic difference.

I don't really like the new GUI on the IFE. They are trying to look modern and trendy while making it more confusing as to where to find the media.
