I haven't seen any confirmed sources, but from what I've heard is that the reasoning for reconfiguring the regional birds first is to combat the increasing pressure from LCC carriers and offer a more attractive Y fare.

Cathay held The Marco polo Club Chairman's Drinks Party tonight. The Chairman failed to turn up. Ivan gave a speech. He only seemed to know about the A350s flying to Auckland, forgetting about Dusseldorf, Gatwick, Rome and Paris. Perhaps frequencies of less than daily are below his radar. He said that CX should have 9 A350s by year end. (They have 9 already. On November 25 (3 weeks ago) in a Financial Briefing it was said that CX would have 11 A350s by year end. Of course this came from a source that claims that committing to fuel 4 years before use is not speculation.) Quel Bordel. Mr. Swire, feed them to the lions before they crash what was once a Great Airline.
I spoke with an executive who I trust. I was told that CX should have 10 A350s by year end with the 11th arriving VERY early 2017. That appears to be honest and reasonable. If the dross were removed there might be hope yet, otherwise the outlook is for a scary downward spiral.

First try on A350 today. I was in 60A and thought was great seat. Access if fine getting out in front. Screen really is excellent. Very responsive.

Missing windows in J anywhere?
I still have precisely 0 (as in "zero") flights on CX's A350, albeit I've done a few on QR so far. This isn't for lack of trying but I don't fly to the current long-haul destinations, and had 35G last-minute swapped away twice on regional routes so far...
In a few days, I have another booking which is scheduled 35G to TPE. I'm hopeful it doesn't swap away again. I'm currently in 12K. Anyone know if this seat is missing a window? This is the front row of J class.
Also, for our wiki's sake, does anyone have any pictures or ideas on which 35G seats have missing windows, whether J, PEY or Y? I'd like to get that data in our wiki like we have it for the 77W.

Can someone please comment on the air-quality comfort of A350? I have flew B787 a few times and because of their 3000-ft air quality, I feel very comfortable on-board and the jet-lag is minimal once I've reached my destination. The different is so obvious and great it makes me sad that Cathay decided not to purchase any B787 but will pursue B77X instead.

In short the A350 is as good, if not better than the 787.
