A350 Seating Guide
With 10 of these in the fleet now and a rapidly expanding long haul route network i thought a seating guide would be a good idea - rather like the 777 thread - http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/catha...best-seat.html

Just realized this after selecting my seat on HKG-MNL that Rows 59AC & 59HK are placed incorrectly on the CX seatmap. On the CX website seatplan, it is showing 60C & 60H as the seats with extra legroom but on both Seatguru & the FT Wiki above, it's showing that it's actually 60A & 60K.
It'll be my first flight on CX A350, & I'm looking forward to my flight in July.

Question regarding the A35K's Y+ cabin:
Since the premium economy cabin will hold 30 seats, I'm assuming we have 4 rows of 2-4-2 (minus two seats in a row). Does this mean we might get a dedicated toilet for premium economy, which would replace where 2 of the seats would be?
I haven't travelled on the A350 yet, but I generally prefer the mini-cabin on long haul flights and the larger cabin on short haul flights.

I haven't found a 'bad' seat yet on the A350 but i haven't found a stand out good seat either. It's a quiet aircraft so cabin noise carries further but once everyone is settled down/asleep its great.

60A is the best seat in Y. It's subjective, but:
- Near the toilet (but no foot traffic)
- Essentially a window seat with 'aisle access'
- Is extra legroom, and actually has a window directly adjacent to you.

Very curious to see whether PEY has a dedicated lavatory on the A350-1000, I'm generally partial to the forward Y mini cabin however with PEY having to bypass this space for the loo on the A350-900 it causes a fair amount of foot traffic. That said, I've enjoyed 42K on a few recent long haul sectors. The forward Y cabin is very quiet and just feels less cramped overall. Looking forward to some upcoming J flights to see how it stacks up to the "current" product.

Agree that the seat total of 30 with 2-4-2 a row suggests that it may be quite likely for 35K to have lavatory in PEY. All the better if that's the case ^

Good/Bad Seats in J
Just avoid 11D and G, especially if overnight. A lot of noise from the VERY close toilets and galley.

As for J class, (disclaimer: I have not flown on 35G yet!) I can't be bothered to read through all the pages in the A350 general thread but I remember there were some initial posts with pictures that showed how the bulkhead seats had smaller/tighter footwells compared to the other seats, contrary to the 777/330s. So really perhaps 16A is the 'best seat' by a small small small margin then.

CX mucked up indeed with 11D and A, but they're still not as bad as 20D on the 77G IMO, which is the worst long-haul J seat fleetwide. Sometimes you actually have one or two passengers standing next to or even crowding the space of the 20D pax on 77G as they wait for the toilet. It's a total disgrace of a J seat. (I don't want to let CX off the hook on the 35G either though. You just can't stick someone paying top dollar in the front seat like that).
I have a bunch of flights on 35G now but none of them long-haul. I will say "at least" there is that curtain there, which is probably why the people designing the seats - none of whom fly probably 10pct of what some of us do - convinced themselves it was okay. I will add, this isn't just unique to CX. QR has a very similar problem for at least one, possibly both their front two J seats on the 35G.
My "at least" is in quotes, because I saw some other posters saying light from the toilet was another real problem in 11A and D. And I can totally see how that would happen when it's overnight flight. Bummer.
The catch with Qatar is that, even though it's nice, it's not priced premium. At least in my world (mainly HK based traveler) Cathay is way more expensive and by and large Qatar cheap as heck. So if you pay 2-3k USD for a ticket okay you can live with Qatars crappy front seats. It is basically a cheapo business class airline anyway, albeit with a very lovely product. But if I pay 3k for it who cares. If I pay 10k for CX's A350 to SFO later this year and sit in 11A, that's not okay.

I will be fly to Melbourne from HKG and return from Brasbine to HKG on A350. So I have a group of three (include a 3 years old child), we plan to seat in 20A, D and 21A, do you think those PEY people will try to use J toilet? If they do, can I ask for the flight attendant stop it?
