Many thanks!
Yes but the earn rate will decrease from $16.67/mile to $25/mile w.e.f. 4 Jan 16

So we're doing the unthinkable...paying our taxes early. In fact we're having CCB pay IRD well ahead in November cos CCB considers credit balances as an exception and will call to enquire.

The calculation for the CCB 939 promotion works out to be around $2.18=1AM, but that is using the Platinum or Eye card reward rate of 15 bonus points = 1AM. If you hold a CCB Premier Banking Visa Infinite card, the rate is 8 bonus points = 1AM (refer to http://www.asia.ccb.com/hongkong/per...r_banking.html).

If my understanding is correct, then the same $12800 spending will give 12800 + 75000 = 87800 bonus points = 10975AM, which is an effective rate of $1.166=1AM.

This sounds too good to be true. Have I missed something ?

No it's not. My wife has it.

In fact CCB revalued her points balance upwards by 87.5% on 30 June 2015 when they changed the conversion rate from $15 points per mile with 2X earn rate to 8 points per mile with 1X earn rate. I thought they will realise the unintended consequences of their actions but it looks like they didn't realise or let it go.

Perhaps i should go on CCB PB for some time. I need to borrow 1M from somebody tho.

Not much going for CCB - 0.18% brokerage and Priority Pass for principal cardholder. Only the $8/mile points redemption program is really going for them.

Thanks

But I avoid most Asia Miles partner restaurants like the plague...if they are any good they don't have to offer miles. Virtual blacklist to me.

Smartone counter payment not a telecoms merchant for Citi Reward 5X purposes

http://www.hongkongcard.com/forum/fo...p?id=16370&p=2

Coded MCC 5732 Electronics Stores. Seems like at least three branches affected: IFC, Telford Plaza and Tsuen Wan

Could be an underhanded attempt to save merchant fees using cheaper MCC.

I second that. And considering you need to put almost 300k HKD on the card in the first 3 months (if my math is not totally off) to max out the promotional earn rate, this card is really just eye washing. Even then, the earn rate is not amazing compared to the other cards out there depending on what you use it for. Really just worth it for the lounge access.
