Best credit card conversion rate to Asiamiles (HK) - 2015

Anybody else receive this in the post this morning ? Nice Christmas surprise from BEA for World MasterCard holders -- $5 spending per mile (no limit) or $2 per mile for dining only. Can only choose one of the two options. Difficult to choose as both are best in class. The great thing is there does not appear to be an end date for this promotion ! Must register by Jan 31st if you want miles, otherwise you get Dining by default. Bonus points start from Feb 9th.

I didn't get this. But from what I can see on their Web site, there's only one choice if you want to get Asiamiles: the $2 per mile Dining default option doesn't qualify for Asiamiles (looks like a sneaky way to get more people off the Asiamiles option):

http://www.hkbea.com/html/en/bea-cre...astercard.html

However the $5 per mile option looks good. I'm sure percysmith can offer some more expert advice, but it looks like it includes bill payments for utilities etc. which presumably means BEA now be a better option than Fubon for some bill payments? (On the other hand, no use for overseas--since they're cancelling the double points from February)

The BEA CS have not all been updated on this (in Chinglish I will call them plastic CS)

http://www.hongkongcard.com/webedito...2947_87257.png

So $5/mile on normal spending after 9 February. No straightforward way to apply for Flyer World/BEA World/BEA SupremeGold except to dump 500K into BEA and open a SupremeGold account.

500K isn't so bad. A lot better than HSBC's 1m requirement for Premier.

Presumably BEA will also become the best option for Octopus now? (Funnily enough had just filled in the form to move one of my Octopus AAVS away from BEA to Dah Sing, but luckily hadn't mailed it yet!)

I think so - the exclusions doesn't list Octopus, and this could reduce the number of cards that I need to carry. I can get rid of the DBS Black and BankComm cards, and replace it with a BEA card.

Offer 2 Overseas:
No min spend
Max spend: $10,000
I'm sorry. This should read $8,000. Checked again with BEA, they appear to consider the Flyer World overseas 1X as "extra". Flyformiles http://flyformiles.flyday.hk/%e6%9d%...1-14%e9%87%8c/ appears to concur with BEA.

HSBC 360 extra RC for $6,000 dining ($1.04/mile) 2 Jan-28-Feb

https://www.redhotoffers.hsbc.com.hk...diningrewards/

Need to register 8228 3308

*** All dining spending has to be >= $500 ***

Also as an aside if you're a total glutton this New Year-Chinese New Year period there's also a Dah Sing 5% offer which also applies on Dah Sing $6/Avios BA http://www.dahsing.com/en/html/credi...ly/dining.html. Well, this one does not need to be >=$500.

OK but you need to cumulate more than $6000 in dining in two months to get the 360 reward $ is that so ?

So seems like the wacko ccb/hsbc strategy for earning miles on tax payment is still alive right?

Yes. And each dining spend must be at least $500.

I think my wife and I will play a dual card strategy - Dah Sing for most of our spending (cos we really don't hit $500 when eating out most of the time) and my HSBC when we do.

Remember in hotels it's a good idea to use HSBC Unionpay if you have one. The classic case in point is Man Ho in Marriott which is MCC 3509 Marriott Hotels for V/M and MCC 5812 Dining for Unionpay.
