But note today's announced changes to MPC such that MPC Green is now subject to a renewal fee of US$100 (unless you have accumulated club points equivalent to 10 discounted economy sectors). It's not clear to me that the Amex card will give a free renewal. But frankly MPC Green is pretty worthless anyway.

When transferring points from amex mr to my asia miles account if they made a mistake of putting "mrs" rather than "ms" would it effect the transfer? Name matches, just the salutation is wrong

Thanks. I might sign up and use for the first 3 months to get the HK$3 per AM and then cut it up and cancel before the annual fee falls due.

Citi payroll cut from 15K to 10K (unless you're loaded)

September: https://flyformiles.flyday.hk/3857

October: https://flyformiles.flyday.hk/3969

Need 50K/month pay for 10k AM offer.

You also need $500K fund-in to open the Citi Priority account for the 10k AM (but you can pull it out as soon as they mail you the chequebook).

Tho I can't think of any other mile offer for payroll - SCB's 6K AM for 80K/month pay ended last Wednesday and they haven't put up the new one.

No changes to the credit card welcome offers, except the option to get 150,000 pts for Citi Rewards is removed (dunno if that happened in July or just now)

For the Citi Prestige card, you get a joining bonus of Asia miles and an annual renewal bonus of Asia miles. But for spending you can choose to transfer to Avios. Does anyone know if those joining and annual bonuses can go to Avios instead as well?

No, cannot. Those are direct credit Asia Miles.

(Probably also won't count for Mega Miles if it ever happens again)

Citi prestige is better once you have a) relationship bonus and b) conversion bonuses like the one in May.

HSBC has a very poor normal earn rate but fantastic when you play them with promotions and conversion bonuses. I was explaining to my mother how I traded $100,000 Mannings coupon for $6,800 loss for 205,700 Avios last summer promo (no, the promo limit was $17,500 per person - this was like 6 colleagues' worth of stock).

Does anyone know when the reward cash from the Mannings promo over August will hit our accounts? I remember it was December or something, but cannot find the T&Cs now.

T&C says that the RewardCash will be credited on or before 30 November 2015.

They tend to be a day or 2 early.

HSBC to devalue RewardCash by 33% on 4 Jan 16 (1RC:15 mile --> 1RC:10 miles)

http://www.hongkongcard.com/forum/fo...w.php?id=16128
https://www.hsbc.com.hk/pws/Componen...reditCards.pdf

So basic 1X earn rate will go from $16.67/Asia Mile to $25/AM(...)
(and if these rates are continued for 2016, 4X from $4.17/AM to $6.25/AM, 6X from $2.78/AM to $4.17/AM, 9X from $1.85/AM to $2.78/AM)

Every so often HSBC massively devalues the program (2010: http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/catha...ate-again.html ), gets ignored for a while, then puts out new promos again.

One member already raised concerns this will adversely affect the tax wacko earn strategy - we probably have to pay CCB by the end of December (as soon as our HSBC statements cut-off) and make sure all earned RewardCash gets converted under the old rate. I have personal experience prepaying into CCB CUPs into credit gets CCB concerned so we have to pay the IRD earlier as well - the CE and CIR must be laughing.

Next year wacko tax stategy will only yield $25/AM, the basic 1X rate.

I've been also using a variant of wacko to pay insurance (CCB $15/AM-->HSBC $16.67/AM for a combined earn rate of $7.89/AM) - this will become $9.375/AM now. If you're lucky enough to have CCB Priority Banking VI you can still enjoy $8/AM.

Also the Mileage Programme annual fee level has been moved from the T&C on to the form, so HSBC doesn't have to go through the process of changing the T&C to change the fee. No changes immediately announced yet.

This only affects AM, Avios and KF not affected by this change (they still earn miles under old earn rates after 4 Jan)

I'm definitely gonna move over to Home if 6X continues to next year because 6X is now devalued.

For 2014-15 I am on track to spend $180K on Dining (lunches with colleagues), and about $70K on Mannings (four semi-annual promos maxed). Assume if I didn't charge dining to HSBC then I will charge it to Flyer World.

Under current conversion rates, ignoring other bonuses and multipliers:
If 6X Dining, the dining spending will earn 64,800 AM and the Mannings 4,200 AM
If 6X Home, the dining spending will earn 36,000 AM and the Mannings 25,200 AM
I'm 7,800 AM ahead with Dining

Under new conversion rates:
If 6X Dining, the dining spending will earn 43,200 AM and the Mannings 2,800 AM
If 6X Home, the dining spending will earn 36,000 AM and the Mannings 16,800 AM
I'm 6,800 ahead with Home
