Double bummer. 1x for not having the ability now, 2x for having twice lived in serviced apartments (briefly) that would've taken credit card, and did not use the opportunity! Oops.

No Reward Cash on HSBC Visa Gold?

Didn't get any Reward Cash when I paid off part of my CCB CUP bill using my new HSBC Visa Gold (to qualify for the Welcome offer). Are Gold cards excluded from Reward Cash for bill payments? Or have I been the victim of an HSBC glitch on this card? (I still got Reward Cash for paying off the rest of my CCB CUP bill using HSBC Premier, Visa Sig, etc.)

Gold visa no rewardcash on bill payment

But don't worry it'll still qualify for welcome offer.

Yes, the 300RC just posted. Many thanks, that's another 4,500AM thanks to your advice.

BTW: What's the annual spending cap on CCB Eye 5X bonus points for online and paywave? And is there any easy to tell when you've reached the cap? Have you ever tried asking CCB Customer Service? Or do you just have to try and reverse engineer your past statements?

Grrr
939 came thru
Got 150,000 points in all card but one (3,075 pts missing).

Asked CCB to identify why, as the card has $12,400x2 spending.

He said two HKICPA fax orders came thru as autopays on their end. ...?

Do you have any redemptions in mind?

Otherwise 1.2 USD CPM isn't too bad - it's not as much as what AM award tix are sold for in hongkongcard.com and Yahoo Auctions, but it's not too bad.

Alright. The problem is on the HKICPA end.

I asked the training administrator how fax orders are charged.

"We send a daily batch to bank for debiting. Only if there are problems will we charged here at the HKICPA office".

Oh very well. Stay off HKICPA for any offers excluding autopay then - namely 939 and probably the SCB ones too. Flyer World them...

I received a special offer from Asia Miles in the post asking me to sign up for the CX Amex Elite Card.

Offer is HK$3 per 1 AM for the first 3 months, annual fee waiver for the 1st year, and free Green MPC membership. There is also 6,000AM welcome offer for signing up online and spending $5k within 3 months.

This looks like a good option for the 3 month bonus period, but beyond that it seems poor value given that BEA World Flyer earns at HK$5 per AM instead of CX AE being HK$6 per AM, and the BEA card being a MC so no problems with merchants accepting it.

Is the MPC fee a recurring one every year, or once I join for free through the CX AE do I not need to pay anything more?

Is there any value in this card aside from paying for things on CX.com (and I assume it has to be exHKG tickets so the merchant is CX HKG rather than CX entities abroad?)

For asia miles does American express ever offer special offers where $1 USD can be converted for more than 1 mile? Right now rewards2cash can offer me $1320 for 100,000 MR points. Not sure if it is good or better that I use it for business class to hkg?

After successfully applying for this card you don't pay a fee to join MPC.
