Got the birthday upgrade on the date of my birthday from Y to C.
I was greeted at the time of check in and upgraded me at the time of check in in the airport.
I am MPO GO. Too bad it was only TPE-HKG....

Got a milestone upgrade J->F on SFO-HKG, and the boarding pass had a "V" on it. Miles posted per biz class mileage.
(For the record, my lifetime MPC posted miles had crossed 500K during my intra-US travels).
Interestingly, my wife was on the same flight, on a different booking (we had flown the outbound separately), and although the itineraries had been cross-referenced, she did not get an upgrade (atleast not at the check-incounter).
At the lounge, while taking the keys to the shower room, I requested that she be moved to the 747's lower deck instead of the preassigned UD seating, so that we could be 'closer' - and before you ask, it had been decided, and conveyed to the lounge lady that i'd be travelling in my wife's J seat.
Post-shower, when I went back to collect my boarding pass - the lovely lady asked for my wife's boarding pass and in a scolding tone said 'we're not going to let her travel', and held a new boarding pass infront of me - printside away from me, with a 'guess what?'.
Although my heart skipped a beat at the thought of 'just' having gotten a swap to a LD seat, I managed to muster a smile and true enough the boarding pass read 3A .
(Also with a 'V' on it).
Awesome flight, lovely crew. And the SFO lounge felt less crowded this time around.
Oh I'm so going to miss the 747s First Class cabin.
