Quite the opposite (for BA flights certainly, you might have a bit of a fight with the EC over partner flights) - you get your original EC miles/TP credit and if you're smart, credit the re-routed airline to another FFP and double dip. I'd have been on SK in an equivalent class like a shot, sticking the miles in BD and claiming the missing BA ones later!

From ba.com:

" Last updated 09:52 UK time

Flights to and from all London airports, especially London City and Heathrow, are subject to delays and cancellations.

London Heathrow Longhaul and Shorthaul flights are cancelled until 1700 today with the exception of :

BA1432 Heathrow to Edinburgh
BA304 Heathrow to Paris(CDG)
BA500 Heathrow to Lisbon

Flights at Gatwick continue to operate but with long delays and some cancellations.

Passengers are advised to check the status of their flight before departing for the airport."

Sure, but it'll delay the reopening, won't it?

Ah... thanks for this info. Had I known beforehand! If tomorrow is as bad, I'll follow your advice.

I am not working till Friday, and really feel for my colleagues who have made it to work today.

I just can not believe that this sort of snowfall causes so much disruption. What on earth is wrong with this country?

When I was a kid, and that is not that long ago, we used to have this sort of snowfall every winter, and things still kept going... Cut backs Cut backs Cut backs... INVESTMENT IN INFRASTRUCTURE is what is required... Embarrassment...

Due to local weather conditions London City Airport is currently closed until further notice
Wish I'd known that before setting out at 6am to get the 8713 down to LCY. BBC Radio Scotland kept blethering on about LHR problems, but declined to mention any other airport.

Just checked into Sofitel T5 - which is now virtually full.
Rebooked onto flight at 8pm - please stop the snow

Unless it was 18 years ago, you didn't see this much snow every (or any) winter

I can remember 1982, 1989 and 1991 and things were no different then. 6 inches of settled snow in Central London is very unusual and I can see why things have gone wrong. In fact I am pleasantly surprised how much of the tube is running.

Rather than investing in equipment for a once a year event, I'd rather the cash was spent sorting out mixed mode for LHR which would be a permanent investment, or more capacity on the tube.

I've been stuck at TLS all morning where I am told the 07.00 will depart for LGW at 14.40.

Can anyone give me any update on this?

And will I be able to get into London somehow?

MERCI!
