allthebestnameshavegone - welcome to FT!

Does seem like we're in for a cold snap - and knowing the South East's usual chocolate teapot capability for bad weather, suspect your moaning forecast probably isn't far off the mark....

Heavy Snow 0000 Mon 2 1800 Tue 3

There is a High Risk of a Severe Weather event affecting much of England and Wales during Monday and Tuesday. Periods of snow will continue to extend westwards through Monday, with heavy falls likely in places. Although marked variations will occur from place to place, 5-10cm likely locally with as much as 10-20cm possible, especially over higher ground. Drifting will occur in fresh to strong easterly winds. This could cause disruption to travel networks, especially across higher level routes.

During Tuesday, snow is likely to turn to rain from the east, except over higher ground.

This Early Warning will be updated at around 11:00 on Sunday 1st February 2009.

Issued at: 1133 Sat 31 Jan

Apologies from your mod team for the repetition above. It appears allthebestnameshavegone's last two posts were snared by the FT spam trap. Now duly released

Welcome to Flyertalk, allthebestnameshavegone

Many thanks for the welcome, am i free from the spam trap for now ?

Lets hope the weather doesn't hold up to many 'flyers' or crew on the major motor ways.

Well... On this occasion, you are all going to have to do without me on the Short Haul network... Force Rostered leave means I am not back till Friday now... So, best of luck to all... And remember...

NO EATING YELLOW SNOW!!!

Enjoy!

Guess that finalises my Monday evening flight choice then. LHR - HEL - LHR, dithering between the Finnair operated (on which the CEO is travelling and I won't be able to avoid gaining some work during the flight)...or the BA operated 25 minutes later.

Finnair seems better able to handle snow (more practice) and seems to get priority on slots into HEL...so it'll be AY + CEO + extra work for me!

HEL - it's sooo aptly named :-) It'll be the 2nd week out of 3 in a row. Must have been a very awful thing I did....

....even the CEO who is Finnish refuses to live in HEL!

There are far, far worse places to go for business than HEL (the airport or the city) IMHO and IME!

You mean you don't relish 5hrs in ET on the Chav Express with a further 5 hours of weather delays?

And there'll be some serious weather on the other side of the pond too..

Major snowstorm forecast for here on the East Coast of the US for Groundhog Day (Monday 2) and Tuesday. So expect possible disruption from DC to Boston.

And, for what it's worth, I've had some great nights out in Helsinki. The Finns, in my experience, have the second best grasp of ironic humour in Europe. Maybe they have to.

Cheers.

Monday morning ... perfect

Am flying out of T5 to Switzerland in the morning (or trying to). Does this mean i should switch to Swiss as they have more practise with snow?

And I thought being stuck in one of the T5 elevators to the HEX for 15min on Thu was inconvenient already
