How do I check the reason why BA178 on 14 Dec 22 was cancelled about 12hrs before departure? I need evidence for an insurance claim on my credit card. Thanks.

Your best bet is the likes of speedbird.online now. It appears G-VIIJ that was due to operate the BA183 on the 13th that would become the BA 178 of the 14th was cancelled out of Heathrow. The reason is unknown but that would have been your aircraft for BA 178 of the 14th December. As for the reason you’d have to ask BA themselves.

Any view on why the 2010 JFK-LGW service (BA2272) has been cancelled tomorrow (9th March 2023) but a different service also departing 2010 with flight number BA2274 seems to now be operating? Can’t find any reference to the 2274 before either.

I think we have seen this before. LGW is currently down one 777 and is having to borrow 777s from LHR. For some reason, in order to get it through the system they have to cancel the original service and then re-instate it with a new replacement service leaving at the same or similar time to the cancelled service. Essentially this is the outcome of a late replacement service, but it doesn't look great in the schedules.
