I'd be very surprised if it wasn't extended to the end of October.

I can see it running up to the end of December, especially in light of the very high volumes of infection being recorded at the moment and the impact that is going to have on cancelling and rebooking flights and holidays.

Indeed. It's likely it will start to impact October half term bookings at some point, which is the last hurrah for UK based airlines for the year.

Avois Booking

Just cancelled an Avios award booking yesterday. Any idea how long it will be before the points are redeposited into my account?

Did you cancel it on the phone and request a refund? If so, they usually credit immediately. If you cancelled online, you'll get an evoucher for the value of the Avios and taxes paid.

I cancelled online, since I tried waiting on phone for over an hour. Does that mean I can't get my Avios back?!?!

That is what I thought. I was thinking I would get my Avios back and a voucher for cash portion. Any idea how long it will take?

I have a number of online Avios refunds on the go at the moment, and they seem to be taking just under a week for the Avios to refund and a bit longer for the cash to refund to my Amex. Note that for these bookings refund is cash not voucher.

Couple of questions, if I may. I’ve checked this and searched the forum but can’t find the answers so am hoping someone can help (and I won’t have to suffer Expedia’s excuse for customer service…)

I booked a BA flight via Expedia (never again!! ) which I had to cancel due to getting covid.

I now have a credit in my Expedia account, which says for *my name* only.

My queries:

- is there anyway of moving this credit to my BA account?

- can I use the credit for booking me + another, if we’re travelling on the same flights/booking?

Thanks in advance.

A bit of a niche scenario, which I'm hoping someone has experienced something similar to, and can offer guidance.

No.1 son's girlfriend is travelling in the Far East, and has had a couple of changes of plans, for varying reasons.
We have ended up booking a one-way (for cash) DPS-LHR via ba.com (operated by Qatar)
This is no longer required, and she is looking to return sooner, via BKK-LHR. This is a ~GBP200 cheaper.

If she requests a voucher for DPS-LHR, from what I can tell she will get an eVoucher, possibly in IDR currency, as that was the currency of the booking (due to origin airport), although BA's FAQ's on BWC policy says they issue vouchers in USD,GBP and EUR only.
Will she be able to use the voucher to rebook BKK-LHR and get "change" in a new voucher, and ideally be able to use that for some planned UK-> Europe flying later in the year?
ba.com doesn't have the full schedule of BKK-LHR available (operated by Qatar), so another option is book a new flight direct with Qatar, which makes the ability to re-use the voucher for some UK originating flights even more important. I presume the voucher is only used by the person named on the booking, so she can have fun flying around Europe in CE to use up ~£600 vouchers, or maybe that won't go as far as it used to?

If its in IDR I dont think they could get an Evoucher as you mentioned only certain currencies are eligible for E-vouchers. Its more than USD, GBP and EUR but i havent seen IDR listed anywhere.

So if she cancelled DPS-LHR, will she get a FTV instead, and be stuck with using it for an ex-Indonesia flight only?

She would get an offline FTV but it will be for the value originally paid. She would have to call up to book, but she can use it for any new cash booking which can be made with BA and it doesn't have to be exIndonesia. It would have to be for the same passenger(s) as the existing booking though.

The issue on currency is only to do with the online evouchers as they can only be issued in certain currencies as noted by Anonba

Excellent, thanks for the answers KARFA and Anonba , most helpful.

We've taken the plunge in the interests of getting her something booked so she can sleep happy tonight and booked with Qatar for BKK-LHR. Now we wait and see if any of the DPS-LHR journey is cancelled, and then request the FTV if not.

Previous reports in this thread and others suggest about 5 to 7 days but formally it could take 30 days.
