Thanks! In the end, I just made two bookings, so the problem is not there anymore.

I’m finding this confusing.

How late (close to departure) can I cancel and get a voucher?

I believe right up to check in, but I would advise no later than an hour before check in closes. Ideally do not check in if you think you may go for a FTV.

Up to check-in close time, so typically 1 hour, but most of us here would advise to do it a little earlier than that.

Claim Avios

Executive Club Members whose flights have been cancelled can now choose Avios instead of a voucher or refund. Taking Avios as an alternative to the cash element paid for your ticket means you’ll receive a 100% bonus compared to Avios purchased at the standard rate.

Any details on this? How much Avios do I get for cash element?

I applied for a FTV but was actually given an evoucher which came through instantly. I rebooked my flights at a lower cost and got the difference in another evoucher. What determines whether an FTV or an evoucher is issued. It was a cash booking discounted by Avios. The total fare prior to Avios discount was issued as the evoucher

Usually simple tickets issued via Self Serve get eVouchers, so not altered by vouchers, codeshares, surface sectors, POUGs, Companion Vouchers, post event seating fees, GUFs and all the other wonderful things that FTers know and love. If you booked it in one fell swoop on BA.com without altering it thereafter, then you get the eVoucher. Álex will be writing to you shortly, to thank you for selling Avios back to him at such a good price.

I applied for a FTV voucher today for a holiday booking (getting my deposit back). I want to book the new trip asap to not lose the good price that I found. Can I book it now (and pay a deposit with card) then wait for the voucher and apply it for a part payment on the new full balance? Or do I have to wait until the actual voucher code? I got a confirmation that they received my request, that's all and that it might take up to 7 days for the actual voucher.

I really don't want to mess this up am trying to save money here.

It sounds to me the poster in the link already had the vouchers and booking normal flights? I'm booking a holiday and don't have the voucher yet?

I suggest you call the BAH line (which if you are in Sweden is in Bremen), I suspect they will be able to help you out here, particularly if the previous booking was also from Sweden.

Yes, both from Sweden. Thank you, I'll try that!

And if you cancel close to check-in closure time, don't be surprised if you don't get your voucher confirmation email before the flight departs. Most of mine have come through within 15 minutes, sometimes faster. But one didn't arrive until a number of hours after the flight had departed.

One other thing about cancelling close to departure time: What if you get an email saying that your voucher application has been unsuccessful? I got one of those when cancelling about an hour before check-in closed, and I wasn't pleased. Fortunately, I knew that the answer was wrong, I worked out something that I might have done wrong, and an immediate second application succeeded. But it was a bit more stress than I would have liked.
