Thank you for the quick update. I chatted with a BA agent who needed to check with the supervisor if this rule also applied for non BA flights. After 20 minutes on hold, the agent came back saying that BA would waive the rebooking fee as neither the agent nor the supervisor could find anything in the rule that limited rebooking to BA only flights. The ticket was rebooked and sent to the backoffice for the reissue.

Sorry if I've missed this - if I rebook using an FTV, will I be covered under BWC for any future changes? Thanks!

Yes, see post 403 above. You have to be within the relevant dates, currently in the Rebook thread wiki.

Great! Wasn't sure as it seems to use the same PNR so wasn't sure if it would count as a new booking for the policy.

Fees for cancelling an Avios redemption

Quick question.

I booked an Avios Amex 2-4-1 redemption. Booking made before 31 August 2020 and will travel before 30 April 2021.

Should a). change the date or b) cancel the trip for a refund of Avios.... does the £35 fee per person apply? I think the answer for a) is no fee but I am unsure for b)

Thanks

Changing the flight should not have a change fee, given those dates. But you only avoid the redeposit fee if BA cancel the service, not if you elect not to travel.

Sorry if this has been asked many times, I’m struggling to find clarification and certainty but, if I was to make a booking today for travel in September 2020 would I be able to apply for the voucher if I decided to no longer travel? I’m confused with the date restrictions. How long before Intended travel do you need to request the voucher?

thanks in advance

Yes. All new bookings are covered for travel up to August 2021 so you could get a FTV.

For a flight only booking you can request the FTV up to 2 hours before flight departure.

If I book a flight and use Avios to save on the cost. What happens if I cancel - do I get a FTV and the Avios refunded or do I forfeit the Avios ?

Neither.
You get an FTV which includes cash + avios to use another day.

Just successfuly contacted BA for a refund of a Cash+Avios booking (cancelled flight to MLA). Avios restored within the hour, Amex refund should take a day or three.

That’s the answer to a different question as your flight was cancelled by BA (So you are entitled to the refund) rather than a voluntary cancellation by the booker.

I want to book a flight to Japan in January on BA including domestic connecting flights on JAL (booked as a codeshare with a BA flight number).

As far as I can see from the rules, I should be OK to get an eVoucher or FTV for the whole value of the booking if I choose not to fly, as it looks like codeshares booked under a BA flight number are included in the policy.

Just wondering if anyone could confirm? Thanks.

I'm not expecting to be allowed into Japan by then, so I'll only book if I can be sure I'll be allowed to get a voucher!
