You might well want to cancel but, unless the flight has been cancelled, the financial cost of doing so should be borne by you or your travel insurer rather than by the airline. Everyone booking a holiday today knows the situation and the risks.

Of course, if an airline decides that is in its interests to offer refunds or vouchers for last-minute cancellations, that is a commercial decision for it to make.

Apologies if I answered before, I did try to search. Under booking with confidence, are you able to make more than one date change, assuming it falls within the permitted validity period, without incurring change fees?

Not sure if this is in the right place and it may be a stupid question, but any knowledge is much appreciated.

i had a 241 booked to YYZ in July 2019, for travel this June. In April I paid change fees and additional avios to move it to October 2020. We’ve now decided that we don’t want to travel this year and want to go somewhere totally different (probably more avios in 2021.

We want to take the Future travel voucher as this gives us longer to travel, this is an option if I click cancel, are we definitely eligible. Can we then add avios to the next booking at the 241 rate? I’m also assuming the cash element will not include the change fee we paid.

thanks in advance

The change fee is indeed lost. But at the moment you don't have an FTV option since you moved the flight to October, and BWC is currently only until 30 September. This date could move, but as ever your best bet is to wait until things clarify. If you got an FTV then you can add money and Avios to reach the final fare if it is higher than the FTV's value.

Thank you CWS. On my booking it gives me an option of cancelling for a FTV, I wondered if this was because the change was made in April? Is the final avios fare calculated using the 241?

Quite possibly, in which case that would be a BA IT failure in your favour, if it works. Yes, the 2-4-1 would be enacted again, so you would only have to pay the extra Avios for one passenger per companion voucher, rather than two.

I suppose I just need to think about whether I take this while it’s available to guarantee the extended 241 or hold out...

Found yesterday - and apologies if all you all know this - but I cannot use a BA voucher if the booking contains segments from other carriers . Has to be pure BA flights.

That is definietly not the case for me, I have rebooked on QR and CX flights, as long as 125 can ticket it

Apologies if this has been covered somewhere else here, but I could not find... Does the "Book with Confidence" allow more than one free rebooking of flights (plus fare difference, if any) that have not been cancelled? Or is it like with LH group, i.e., only one change is free and all subsequent incur fare's rebooking fee? Thanks.

You can do multiple rebooks, it's not a one-time only option like many other airlines seem to be doing. However I have advocated people are realistic about travel since the rules could change at some point and you may be left with flights you don't want to take and can't move.

It has been mentioned in other threads that it is an unlimited number of free changes (plus fare difference) but I do not have experience of that so cannot confirm.

Was this a reward or revenue booking?

As noted by nufnuf77 this doesn't sound like the agent is correct. Basically any booking you could normally make via BA should be bookable using the FTV.
