Club Europe Catering Guide 2017.

This thread outlines the new arrangements for Club Europe catering, introduced on Sunday 26 March 2017 and due to end on Tuesday 11 September 2018, based on 3 zones. A new Club Europe catering product is due to be launch on Wednesday 12 September 2018, and this is based on 4 bands. The main information piece - in terms of timings and the distance zones for the meals can be found in post 1. The following cross references the photos below against the matrix of options. In addition to the photos, some FTers have written extensively on their experiences so there is more to this thread than the pictures. Also note that there was an increase in food offered on some combinations shortly after the start-up, so the more recent photos may be the best place to start. The previous shorthaul catering guide, now locked but which had the previous 4 band system, is to be found here.

Numbers relate to the post number. Vegetarian means the alternative option provided as standard rather than the pre-ordered versions - which are VLML (Lacto-ovo), AVML (Asia) and VGML (Vegan) . There are differences between the offering in/out of LHR, LGW, LCY+STN. Last update: 833

Note posts before 1-832 are typically the April 2017 menu. 833 and above is from the menu for May 2017.

Ice is also round tripped, although I wouldn’t imagine a lot of flights departing early on the next morning use massive amounts of ice.

The only anomaly is the very concept of 'medium band' as it stands! Once you have such a radical gap between medium and long, the limit has to fall somewhere and the problem is just that the gap is so large in terms of service between the two (except for breakfast flights) that it makes those discrepancies feel shocking.

I’m trying to refrain from criticising BA here too much as I feel there’s a risk it all gets a bit repetitive. However, just want to comment having flown LHR-OSL for the first time in a while last night that the current hot sandwich offering (‘tomato and mozzarella’, I believe) is a complete and utter disgrace.

The idea of serving a sandwich as a meal on a flight of that length for dinner is probably a mistake in and of itself, but at least when the new CE catering first began the first few rotations had a decent amount of (relatively cheap) filling. What I was served last night was effectively a large bread roll, smeared with the thinnest possible layer of pesto and a couple strands of mozzarella, with three (yes, three) half tomato slices in it. Attempts to economise yet further appear to be being made.

Felt so sorry for the quite hard working member of crew who did his best to provide good service on the flight with the absolute rubbish BA had provided him with.

This is not a trick of perspective, it really was laughably tiny! The crew member (who was really good actually) looked embarrassed to be serving this. Medium band by the way, LGW-BCN.

Flew from LHR to IST today and was pleasantly surprised by the food in CE. Lovely smoked salmon starter, main choice and dessert. Best airplane food I ever had!

If you'd been on TK it would have been substantially better! ;-)

Greetings from IST. I was on your flight and like you, very much enjoyed the Balik salmon starter. My main course of Atlantic cod and olive mash was excellent too.

I very nearly went for the Atlantic cod, too, but love the smell of truffle oil a little too much, so went for the linguine. Have a great stay in IST.

It's effectively the same for the whole month, but in practice, to make things worse, when it comes to the 'afternoon tea', even month on month variations are extremely minimal.

That's a Long service, so some of the recent photos showing 3 courses (cold starter, hot main meal, dessert) are the sort of things you will get.

Can I expect same quality on the inbound/outbound?
I really more concerned about the LCA-LHR leg...
