Club Europe Catering Guide 2017.
This thread outlines the new arrangements for Club Europe catering, introduced on Sunday 26 March 2017 and due to end on Tuesday 11 September 2018, based on 3 zones. A new Club Europe catering product is due to be launch on Wednesday 12 September 2018, and this is based on 4 bands. The main information piece - in terms of timings and the distance zones for the meals can be found in post 1. The following cross references the photos below against the matrix of options. In addition to the photos, some FTers have written extensively on their experiences so there is more to this thread than the pictures. Also note that there was an increase in food offered on some combinations shortly after the start-up, so the more recent photos may be the best place to start. The previous shorthaul catering guide, now locked but which had the previous 4 band system, is to be found here.
Numbers relate to the post number. Vegetarian means the alternative option provided as standard rather than the pre-ordered versions - which are VLML (Lacto-ovo), AVML (Asia) and VGML (Vegan) . There are differences between the offering in/out of LHR, LGW, LCY+STN. Last update: 833
-------------------------
Note posts before 1-832 are typically the April 2017 menu. 833 and above is from the menu for May 2017.

And an observation of the service on the GVA-LGW, a sector of about 75 minutes :
5 rows, 19 pax in CE
1 crew member
Lukewarm-to-cold 'hot towel'
Crew member then retreated behind the curtain for 10 minutes, lots of clanking and clinking.
Then ....
Ask 1A their choice of meal (cold salad or hot croquet monsieur) and drink
Go back to the galley to prepare the food
Deliver food to 1A, return to galley
Deliver drink to 1A
Ask 1C their choice of meal
Return to the galley to prepare the food
Deliver food to 1C, return to galley
Deliver drink to 1C, return to galley
Offer breadbasket to 1A and 1C, return to galley
Repeat for 1F and 1D
<snip>
The crew member worked as quickly and diligently as she could, but you couldn't help but wonder who on earth is mandating this service methodology....

Anyway, they got through the rather large CE cabin quickly enough but also two cabin crew serving.

Any recommendation for LCA-LHR on a 14:30 flight?
And for the LHR-LCA @ 11:45?
I'm not sure whether to have the regular meal or a special one...
Thanks,

Anybody able to shed any light on the special
meals available on MAN/LHR?
Going to try try something different in an effort to avoid another salad but not sure what to go for. Added complication is that don't eat tomatoes. It’s an evening flight so not the end of the world if nothing suitable when it arrives. I’ll take the chance.

I thought it might have been a way to deal with status first (as the order was not 1A, 1C...but 1D, then 1F then 1A then me in 1C (a lowly silver you see ) Maybe it was just to allow people through to the loo and keep the aisle clear at first until some space on the trolley for refuse, etc..?
All you can guarantee is that if you sit in row 1 CE you will be one of the first four to be served!

Here’s the beef & cheese panini from this mornings 1325 NCL-LHR. The other option was a selection of cold meats apparently

The Prawn Salad on last night's 19:05 LGW-GLA was very slightly better than the "5 prawn halves and a bit of lettuce" reported on LHR flights. It was three whole prawns instead and with a more substantial Quinoa/Pasta Salad.

I nominate “Selection of Cold Meats, apparently” as the best descriptor some of BA’s recent fare that we’ve had on here in ages.

Good grief, I feel horrible! I definitely had a salad meal for afternoon tea before and would have never recommended it if I knew that they had now switched to even worse sandwiches than the norm. That looks truly atrocious. I'm really sorry to have inadvertently led you to make such a wrong choice.
Had the KSML on a lunchtime flight and it was almost exactly as the picture you posted in post #1954 above, just a slightly different chocolate dessert. The beetroot cured salmon was excellent, the salad underneath was a little limp around the edges, but nicely dressed and good flavour in the fish pate balls. I eat very little bread, but tasted the bread and it was good. I found the chocolate dessert tasty, but very rich and dense, half of it was plenty for me.
Overall, a good choice and KSML will be an option to provide a little variety, so thanks for the recommendation. As an aside, the chicken salad that my neighbour had seemed to have slightly more food on it than I've seen recently. Three decent-sized slices of chicken, some sort of cold ratatouille-style vegetable mix and the usual small pile of salad leaves (no dressing of course). Still not enough if you were on a 2h30 block time flight, especially in the evening, but maybe a small improvement on the single butterflied prawn and minuscule paper-thin chicken slices served up a few months ago.
