Club Europe Catering Guide 2017.
This thread outlines the new arrangements for Club Europe catering, introduced on Sunday 26 March 2017 and due to end on Tuesday 11 September 2018, based on 3 zones. A new Club Europe catering product is due to be launch on Wednesday 12 September 2018, and this is based on 4 bands. The main information piece - in terms of timings and the distance zones for the meals can be found in post 1. The following cross references the photos below against the matrix of options. In addition to the photos, some FTers have written extensively on their experiences so there is more to this thread than the pictures. Also note that there was an increase in food offered on some combinations shortly after the start-up, so the more recent photos may be the best place to start.The previous shorthaul catering guide, now locked but which had the previous 4 band system, is to be found here.
Numbers relate to the post number. Vegetarian means the alternative option provided as standard rather than the pre-ordered versions - which are VLML (Lacto-ovo), AVML (Asia) and VGML (Vegan) . There are differences between the offering in/out of LHR, LGW, LCY+STN. Last update: 833

Right. I have to agree with the Medium Band people. Frankly, it is hardly any different from a Short - and is inadequate. I flew LGW - BLQ and the choice was a Mozzarella panini or a chicken salad. We had one of each and I got to taste them both. The Panini was fairly bland - (why don't they serve a slice of Pizza?) and the chicken was delicious. However, it was eaten in about four mouthfuls.I had the duck on the way home.Again it was very tasty, and we had had an excellent lunch so I was not particularly hungry which was just as well!

I am not a fan of the duck starter... and this one was disappointing too. On the other hand Chicken Tikka Masala was delicious!

I must admit that it seemed a bit odd to have double cheese as courses of the meal. The cabin crew couldn't really tell what it was when I asked her. There was one printed menu and the CSM had it. They seemed rather anxious to serve the cabin swiftly as it was 8 rows and rammed.

A few surprises on the 787-9 back from Madrid last week, booked as a little holiday treat for my parents. Aside from the rather uninspiring combo of chicken panini with side order of bread roll, the crew had to seriously limit their drink serving due to very low stocks. There was only a couple of spare seats, and, with only one bottle of champagne available for the whole cabin, that didn't make it much past the first row. All wine ran out half way through dinner, and we were down to soft drinks and the odd bottle of tanqueray for the last hour of the flight. Lots of moans from people around us, though with me and my parents being big gin drinkers, we survived with aplomb.
I spoke to the crew about the situation in the galley, and they put the blame on the outbound passengers for working through most of the alcohol, and the company for not calibrating stock levels to the size of the aircraft. Their claim was that they had the same number of bottles as would have been available on an A320. Both of those points sounded a little off to me. Still, the plane wasn't swapped for a short-haul aircraft at the last minute, and my parents loved every moment of their first ever experience in business class - aside from the slightly terrifying initial feeling of lying fully flat on an airplane seat, which I vaguely remember from my own first time and that helped to give some perspective to matters!

A B789 has 42 seats in Business, which corresponds to 10.5 rows of Club on an A320. I've seen 10, 11 and 12 rows in the past on A320s. The size of the aircraft doesn't really matter here, does it?

Indeed, and I presumed that there would be some calibration between the number of passengers booked and the amount of stock loaded. Or perhaps I'm being overly optimistic about how BA's logistics operate? Quite a difference meeting the needs of 4 or 5 people in CE and having to serve almost 10 times as many.

Also the reason why I had two meals on the BA417 on 26 NOV - when I unsealed the kosher meal, not really sure why but my nose disagreed with the smell and I was about to throw up! I asked for an M&S bacon roll but the awesome CSD insisted that I have the duck salad first and 2 chocolate cake thingies then I can pay for the bacon roll if I still wanted it.
