Offered this seat map selection also for LGW/MCO later in the year... confused the hell out of me at first.

My only assumption is 04A, 04K are going to be those lovely private seats I loved on the old configuration.

I've gone with;
  • LGW/MCO, 04A and 04K for me and the wife. We don't chat much on board anyway as too busy watching films or relaxing.
  • MCO/LGW, 04A not available. 04K for me and 03K for the wife.

Hi

Can anyone help me with this seat map which is on BA216 from TPA to LGW in August. I'm travelling with my 9 year old.

I've picked 11a/b as they provide direct aisle access. Does anyone know if that would also be the case for either 3a/b and/or 4j/k ? Anything else I should be aware of ?

Thanks for any help !

Yes for 4JK, 3AB have 4AB behind them.
If you choose row 4 keep an eye on the booking as they may change it to a B777 with 5 rows in the front cabin, if they do move to 5AB or 5JK.

Thanks CIHY - is galley/toilet noise an issue in row 4 ? Is it really as close as shown on the layout ?

As so frequently posted here, there is an excellent resource available to us which gives a very good idea (even if not perfect) of how the aircraft actually are: British Airways B777-200ER 40J/24W/219Y Seat Map

I don’t think it’s a problem as we mostly work out of the front galley.

Ok, another 777 question - flying my first 777 in a long time in November, CW with rows 10-15. This is flight 175 LHR-JFK Nov 14 '18, a bit embarrassed to see that I failed to make note if it is a -300 or -200.

I would normally like a seat like 10B/D/G or J so no-one has to jump over me but the proximity of the bathroom gives me pause. My second choice would be 15A or K. What is the consensus on these seats?

Also, does the new CW food service start at the front or back of the cabin?

Thank you for all input.

LGW-LIM in March. Gone for 10+11 a&b in the 3 class plane, for family of 4- kids are mid and late teens. Purely on basis we will only be stumbling over each other.

Not a lot of other options, but be interested to know if anyone thinks I’ve made a howler.

I was definitely having this discussion on another thread at some point !

I'm also planning a trip with 2 adults and 2 young teenagers in the same fit of 777, so was having the same considerations.

My query with your plan is this...doesn't the person in 11A step over the legs of the person in 12B?

I'm toying with the middle four in row 10, as it's a night hop - but that would break my window seat habit of a lifetime.

The seat map on MMB shows it as the 777-200 layout ie row 11 is the last row of CW. If that’s not the case then admittedly that will be an issue.

Its the 3 class plane.

Ah, ok, my trip is in a 4-class (IAH-LHR) with CW in rows 10-15, so you probably do achieve your aim.

I am looking to book a 2-4-1 redemption into First for the first time. As it is very much last minute, available routes are restricted and can only find availability on our dates to Toronto, Atlanta and Doha, all on 777-200's.

Whilst I am very much looking forward to experiencing the "soft" product for the first time, including Concorde lounge, I am aware that these aircraft are some of the oldest BA fly. As such, is the First experience onboard diminished at all compared to say a B787 , A380 or even newer B777-300?

I have saved my Avios for a number of years to experience First and, due to nature of my work and that of my partner, kids and various other life events, the opportunities to plan a trip away in First are greatly restricted. We could try again in the future and try and get a newer aircraft but it is worth the wait or will be be just as happy on this "older" aircraft?

I tried F last year for the first time - both on 777s. One was a newer 300ER and one an old 200. The only difference was the TV. The 200 to JFK had the old Rockwell Collins system. I would class it as unwatchable - the screen quality was poor and the connection kept breaking. May be a fault but Mrs JH had a similar problem. The 300 back from HND was fine.

However I wouldn't worry about the TV if you have an iPad. The service, seats and experience in both was fantastic. I am sure I would start to find fault if I was doing it monthly, but life is too short! Tell the CC its your first F, and they will look after you. Don't be afraid to enjoy it and everything they can offer! And select a pair of middle seats if flying together - there are no bad seats but the window seats are not great if you want to have a chat with your other half and raise a glass to your good fortune to be travelling at the front!

But do go somewhere you want to go to - whilst the journey is part of the experience, having something to look forward to at the other end will take away the pressure of the journey being everything. Have a great time.
