Being near the toilets has never been an issue for me.

8hrs or so to JFK isn't too bad. Last flight had near total cloud coverage and a few bits of slightly visible ice packs over Greenland / Newfoundland or whatever route the plane took.
Still nice to look out a window especially on take-off and landing especially during light summer months (one reason I don't like the 3:15pm arrival on the A380 from LAX-LHR where most window shades seem to be closed until touchdown, or you can't see anything if not in a window seat)
I would expect the person at the window in row 27 to close the shutter (which is pretty much theirs) as heading westbound in the morning is going to have a lot of sunlight streaming in.

Possibly grab 27A and C and hope no-one sits in the middle?

Nothing been offered upgrade wise for WT+?
Its with BA Holidays so it's offered me nothing so far and I can't face having to call up. My long long relapsed status (thanks Covid!) means I'm unlikely to get offered anyything

Central portion sadly looks booked out but possibly with a bassinet
I’m 6”1 and value legroom far more than a window when travelling in WT. I can personally vouch for 26C because of the legroom it offers. Yes there are some downsides, the toilet queue in front of you being one that hasn’t yet been mentioned, but if I’m travelling in WT then it has to be in row 26 otherwise I’m stumping up to move forward!

Very true.

One of my best friends is 6'4 and always goes for an exit seat. His route is usually to the States a few times a year and he's really not that bothered by having a window as much as it is nice to look out of, legroom is of the most importance to him.

A wee tip is to bring a soft ish carry on the use it as a leg rest once your up to cruising height. Makes a great leg rest!

Just got to watch out for trolleys and people tripping over your legs once they're stretched out.

Rather than a soft bag, as a GGL member, I can call forth a lowly blue to get onto their hands and knees and act as a footstool for the duration of the flight

Hi forum,

Longtime VS flyer on NYCLON looking to book my first BA LH flight in... a really long time. The LHRJFK option (in J) I'm looking at (for June) appears to be a 77H with 76J CS. If I'm following the discussions, it sounds like BA's refurb program is still underway? I realize operational issues can arise at any time, but I'm trying to get a sense of the frequency of equipment substitutions on this particular route, which presumably BA would try to prioritize maintaining their flagship product on.

For a risk assessment comparison, I would book AF JFKCDG BEST J even though there's a small chance the flight might get downgraded to NEV. OTOH, I would not book KL JFKAMS in W until they've completed that rollout, given the number of last minutes swaps being reported.

(Sorry if this is discussed upthread or elsewhere, FlyerTalk search is what it is...)

Thanks for any insight...

The refurb programme is far from complete. As you said, there is a whole different thread on this.
JFK route has a good chance of getting Club suite in J in general but you can never say never with BA.

I suppose it depends if you want to sit side by side so a pair of central seats or you both want a window?

If it's a 4 class with Club Suites then your on a 77M or 77H if you can clarify?

The easy way to tell is if you have a seat 8K in the front CS mini cabin on your flight.

You can see the configurations in the Wiki and as importantly if you want a window you can see which seats have the odd blank.

Mini cabin starts at 5K - I suppose sitting together might be easier re sharing reading material etc. Its on the BA0175 so a day flight. Night flight I might go 1 and 1 in case someone snores

How much worse is the 14F seat compared to the new 8F 2020 seat?

I’m trying to figure out if it’s worth upgrading from CWS on a different day.

A second question if anyone could speculate as to why.. the earlier of the two LHR-SFO flights (777) has come up with 4 First Avios redemptions available yet BA is not offering F when I try and book a revenue ticket on their site. Any ideas? June 11

In seat power?

Am I right in thinking the LGW 77S CW seats only have USB charging (no plug of any type)?

All CW seats have both USB and AC outlets.

If you happen to be on the last remaining ancient IFE aircraft, it’s an American plug - all other aircraft have universal outlets.
