Check the seat map that you're on against the various types shown at aerolopa.com. You'll find one that has the right number of matching seats in the various cabins. ExpertFlyer is really useful to see the layout of the cabins for the flight you're on. If you don't have access to that, post the flight number here and date and one of us will point you to the type.

So we've booked seats on an unrefurbished 773 for a flight in May (SFO-LHR). Does anyone have any idea how often BA do a late swap to a refurbished 772 or 773, or even a A350 or 787-10, just wondering if we stand any chance of being swapped onto club suites?

I wouldn't choose row 10 due to the closeness of the galley/toilets but primarily because theres a missing window there, right at your seat. Here's an accurate summary. 10, 12 and 15 have little or restricted views.
10AK = poor view as missing window
11AK = good view
12AK = missing window - poor view
13AK = restricted view as overwing
14AK = restricted view as overwing
15AK = missing window and too near WTP
Here's an older photo of mine. From 13A. When you consider economy or even WTP then each and every CW seat is still quite good really.

I’ve had them switch those week of and day of, so there’s no real metric to account for.

Flying in early 2024 LGW - ANU in CW. Looks like a 32J plane. Any thoughts on what’s best for a couple ? Just about all seats open I’m thinking 4A&B is better than Row 1 - but not sure. I really don’t want to have to step over a strangers legs ! Recently flew on a 380 in row 53a looks like row 4 on this will achieve the same result.

I normally go for 1A/B (or J/K) and I take window while the better half goes aisle. Best of both worlds for us since I like window seat and don’t mind climbing over someone in 2B while no one climbs over the wife in 1B.
4A/B is reversed since window seat person can get out without climbing over anyone but aisle seat passenger will have 3A climbing over them when the seat is reclined or in bed mode with the foot stool down.
If both of you want aisle access without climbing over anyone, then 4EF is best option but you will have no windows and you will both have strangers facing you on take off and landing when the dividers have to be down but after that, you will be in your own little cubicle. The bassinet is here though and so if there are any bassinet requirement, you will be moved from here.
So just depends on what compromise is acceptable to you.

Depends on what compromise you are happy to take.

Hi All
I'm booked in my first ever WT long haul in July LHR-JFK on the 117 which is booked as one of the 10 across 777s
We're travelling as a couple and I'm mulling going for 26A and B on the outbound but the reviews of these seats are so mixed and they don't appear to have a window?
Does anyone have a recommendation? (Sadly the twin seats at the back are booked out)

Thus I would recommend compromising on the window and sitting in row 26. Perhaps book a seat in the central portion if you can, so you don’t have people congregating in front of you for the loo?

Yep no window. I found the seats in the row behind (with window) extremely cramped and uncomfortable - and I’m certainly not large in width and only 6ft tall.
Thus I would recommend compromising on the window and sitting in row 26. Perhaps book a seat in the central portion if you can, so you don’t have people congregating in front of you for the loo?

Central portion sadly looks booked out but possibly with a bassinet

Here's a few pictures and personally I'd choose 26B and C (or J and K) However one advantage you do have is the wall to lean on. I'd give the middle row a miss as at 6'3 you won't be able to fully stretch out if you can bag any of the above.
If your flight is a direct LHR-JFK with no connections you might be offered a POUG but your flight is a fair bit away for now. Keep an eye out though.

The seats are generally the same throughout the cabin, although some do have the IFE boxes underneath so can restrict legroom.
Being near the toilets has never been an issue for me.
8hrs or so to JFK isn't too bad. Last flight had near total cloud coverage and a few bits of slightly visible ice packs over Greenland / Newfoundland or whatever route the plane took.
Still nice to look out a window especially on take-off and landing especially during light summer months (one reason I don't like the 3:15pm arrival on the A380 from LAX-LHR where most window shades seem to be closed until touchdown, or you can't see anything if not in a window seat)
I would expect the person at the window in row 27 to close the shutter (which is pretty much theirs) as heading westbound in the morning is going to have a lot of sunlight streaming in.
Possibly grab 27A and C and hope no-one sits in the middle?
Nothing been offered upgrade wise for WT+?
