That seems to work (although I find it varies a bit by dates when I briefly tried the AA website) - is coming in around the €2,200 mark though so a bit pricier than mentioned at the top - perhaps that was a sale fare? Is a great number of TPs in one go though, even at that price!

Which dates you find around 2200 €? I'm not able to find it under ~2800 € from April to August.

Sorry I can't remember, likely Oct/Nov time as I was looking to perhaps tie it in with BA A380 flights. Now busy look at SJU TP options!

Malaysia Airlines TP Runs

Has anyone figured out any good TP options from MH?
I'm in Kota Kinabalu, Langkawi & Kuala Lumpur for 3 weeks with some extra time.

First ever 270 TP Run - Help much appreciated

I was wondering if some could help/advice either here (or by PM) re a 270 TP run sometime around the 25th May for a short a time as possible please?
(Although any month earlier, or even later, would be great and I can be very flexible with dates)

Is SJU always the best place to start? I'd prefer to do say one simple return SFO/LAX to MIA/TPA or possibly start from NY to the West coast and back and fly a run which would generate enough TP's for me to hit Silver.

I've been playing around on and off with AA and ITA for the last couple of weeks but can never seem to get anywhere with a low/resonable price.

Any advice/help/ideas would be greatly appreciated. ^

Pete

There's something like JFK-MCO-MIA-SJU that gives 160TP each way for around £238 each way (or it was last time I looked). Would require an overnight stay in San Juan though (or for £120 extra you can overnight in Miami, leaving SJU same day)

Or do JFK-MCO-MIA-SJU for £238 and 160TP getting into SJU ealy afternoon.
Then catch the 4:55pm flight SJU-MIA-JFK which arrives in New York just after midnight. No hotel stays but a long day. 100TP for £234.
Total of 260TP for £472.

That sounds good but what dates/month is that for?

Just to say (for the wiki at the top) I just booked the following:
LAS-LAX-MIA-SJU | A/A/I | £481 return | aa.com | 620 TPs | £0.78/TP

Of course need to see if it actually all works out OK when I do it (ie no major misconnects or being moved onto 3-cabin service), but the fares and classes are fine!

25th May is the date I tried as per your post.

New York (JFK) to Orlando (MCO) - Sat, May 25
American 1815 Dep: 6:55AM Arr: 9:35AM 2h 40m Boeing 757 First (A)
Layover in MCO 0h 50m

Orlando (MCO) to Miami (MIA) - Sat, May 25
American 2167 Dep: 10:25AM Arr: 11:30AM 1h 5m Boeing 737 First (A)
Layover in MIA 1h 50m

Miami (MIA) to San Juan (SJU) - Sat, May 25
American 489 Dep: 1:20PM Arr: 3:50PM 2h 30m Boeing 757 Business (I)

Cost per passenger (including taxes & fees) £237.50
Total cost for 1 passenger £237.50

San Juan (SJU) to Miami (MIA) - Sat, May 25
American 1736 Dep: 4:55PM Arr: 7:50PM 2h 55m Boeing 757 Business (I)
Layover in MIA 2h 0m

Miami (MIA) to New York (JFK) - Sat, May 25
American 1412 Dep: 9:50PM Arr: 12:45AM 2h 55m Boeing 757 First (A)
Sun, May 26

Cost per passenger (including taxes & fees) £233.50
Total cost for 1 passenger £233.50

Seems to be 1h5 between landing in SJU adnd leaving - might be the same plane both ways?

The LAS-LAX-(MCO)-MIA-SJU is popular although better going from SJU-LAS in my opinion (8:50am start,10:20pm finish same day - nice in daylight, more food options and no trying to sleep on a 757/767 etc). Nice ending up in Vegas as well

I toyed with adding in MCO but it seemed to both push the price up and also seemed to raise the chance of more misconnects - I was booking mine quite a few months out so I dread to think how many schedule changes AA will make to my booking!

xenole and alanjrobertson

Thanks for those posts ^

I've read this thread time and time again but I still can't seem to now get the price xenole you are quoting saying the JFKout isn't available. I've spent countless hours trying to price something up but never any joy.

Am I doing this the right way?

1) AA.com
2) Multi- City
3) Entering said flights
4) Choosing Business Class or Higher box which shows the Instant Upgrade to F (P) class

Or do you price it up on ITA first?

Sorry if these sound basic questions but I just can't seem to get any low prices for various months inc 25th May

Sometimes the AA site struggles with Multi city. If you've found a flight on ITA, it's helpful to add times of the flights to the search as well. Helps stop AA.com just saying "Oh I give up" as it's quite prone to doing.

^ totally agree with that - in the end I found doing a straight LAS-SJU return and getting it to show all the options and then picking the ones I wanted did the trick for me, but annoying I'd got it to work previously using the multi-city tool - it does seem a bit temperamental!

When are you thinking of doing a TP run - I could join you on a run from LAS to SJU I have done it twice and can highly recommend it!
