Have there ever been any lucrative tier point runs out of SIN?

Aster - I'm sure we know each other from somewhere! It's been a while......

There's generally very little going on in this region in terms of cheap TPR's on BA or OW airlines.

MH and CX occasionally have cheap return business fares from SIN to KUL / SIN to HKG that will net you 80 tier points for around 400-500SGD - hardly a good use of cash compared to some of the AA flights in the states.

The only other option is J from SIN to SYD or SIN to LHR that gives you 280 / 320 for the roundtrip and in the sale can cost around $3000-4000.

No doubt that hasn't really helped you at all!

I think I asked this question back in 2005

The only thing I've ever seen coming close was this: http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/catha...promotion.html

Hi Billy, long time no see I was going to come to the last get-together but my wife's friends arrived for a 2-day stay and the drinking started early... Will definitely make the next one though!

I could do with at least Silver status for the extra luggage allowance and Avios tier bonus, but as you mentioned deals from SIN are no match for some of those AA-based runs where you can race up the tier ladder without too much damage to your wallet...

Greetings all, hopefully I'm posting in the right forum so forgive me and I apologize if I haven't.

I'm looking to fly to Mumbai and have used ITA Matrix found a cracking price displayed with royal jordanian. Routing being MAD-AMM-MUM on 31-MAR-2013 returning MUM-AMM-CDG on 15-APR-2013 for £786 in business class however I can't find any site to honour this price or come close to it! Any help? Otherwise it is a case of going Economy with BA for about £750!!

Thank you, KKP

My understanding is that ITA is a fares website. There is a substantial difference between fares and availability. There will often be published fares but no availability.

There's loads of availability - just a discrepancy in fare price

Availability is linked to fare classes. Are you saying that there's availability showing in the actual fare class you're trying to book?

What fare class are you seeing in ITA for the flights you're trying to book?

You're looking for a cheap business class ticket. Ticket prices are organised into fare classes or "buckets", each with a letter. For business class, the available fare classes are J, Z, C, D and I.

The fare you found is fare class I, the lowest.

However, RJ has decided it does not want to sell seats in fare class I on this flight, hence I0. RJ.com gives the next cheapest, fare class D.

I don't know why ITA thinks I class is available, but RJ doesn't agree.

There are some good introductory guides out there. You might find this KVS one of use?

Put simply they explain that "Fare + Availability = Trip". In your case you have the fare but no availability so there's no trip possible at that fare.

ITA does check availability. It's just that in this case it seems to be broken and is reporting I9 when there is really I0. This is the first time I've seen that happen.
