Good advice. After some messing around am looking at the open jaw option - knocks price back to £1,429, though sadly I can't take LCY flight back due to another engagement (and reduced August schedule). Still 250 TP out and 390 TP back, so not bad.

Add in £577 for LGA-MIA-SJU (2 night stay)-MIA-LAS-LAX and 410 TP more and amn't complaining. I figure I can stomach 3 hours on Virgin America in economy for the west coast run to SEA

Overall under £2 per TP, and allows me to catch up with friends and family on west coast. Plus will put me very close to 3,000 TP that will allow me to try for GGL next year.

Question. On AA do you get less TPs for RESTRICTED fare as opposed to a FLEXIBLE fare?

Yes, can you believe it, I'm still working my 19th-21st TP run without much avail. Seems like I've picked the most expensive week for it, no matter how I look at it, and everytime I come back on the prices go up.

But just found out through work that I also have the 30th and 1st off so I have two small windows to do runs. If anyone has any bright ideas, please help. I'm drowning in airline codes and pairings!

So April 19 i'm in DFW, can leave in the morning
Need to be in NYC by noon on April 22

April 30 I'm in NYC, can leave early morning, or even late night April 29
Need to be in ORD by evening of May 1

All that matters is the fare code. You can see it when you click the + near the AA flight number. If you are in F, you get the same TP's whether flexible or restricted.

I wonder if I'm the only person who initially read that as the statement of someone who does a LOT of TP runs?

I was sittting there thinking a mix of "Kudos!" (or possibly more appropriately here "Props!") and "WHYYYYYYYY" when the penny dropped.

LOL - if only. I've just worn my brain down after 3 hours of flight (and soul) searching!

P on AA is paid first class, and earns the same as F and A.

Only economy fares have a tier point differential between expensive and cheap.

So, I found a DFW-MIA-MCO-MIA-LAX-LAS | LAS-LAX-MIA-MCO-JFK for £935 = 840. Seemed cheap. Plus 36 hours in LV, so an opportunity to 'win' back the cost on the tables.

So now to score 210 or so and I'm done.

Do all TP runs focus on BA/AA (+Jordanian) or are there other lucrative opportunities with other partners like CX or QF?

Due to the current premium seat sale to the US, I've agreed to fly out to New York ahead of a trip to Stamford on Friday 5th April instead of Sunday 7th (as a result, I get to fly the CWLCY service for the first time - very excited!). Given my travel plans are a lot more limited this year, I estimate I'll be about 370 TP short of renewing gold - but having this spare weekend in NY makes me think "TP run!"

Can get a F return from JFK-SEA on AA for £700, giving me 420TP - but can anyone suggest a cheaper routing that would get me the requisite number of points? I have to be back in NY on Sunday 7th in order to get to Stamford for that evening

Have a look at the ORD-STL-DFW-SJU return at under £500 return and 520TPs. The tag on a cheap Y JFK-ORD return.

Depends how much you want to save vs extra flying you're prepared to do.

Unfortunately not available for that price when I'm there - will just do the SEA trip, crashing at an airport hotel, sound in the knowledge that I'll have unexpectedly secured Gold for another year

Just curious, I did a couple of sectors last week, and the tps have yet to appear in my BA Ex Club account. Last year, they posted in a couple of days, IIRC.

I'd give it a few more days especially if it was a oneworld partner and not BA.
