Probably pushing it as a TP run, but on the A380 including the inaugural if you wish:

FCO-LHR-HKG-CGK-HKG-LHR-FCO for £1930, netting 640TP's at £3.01 and ~40k avios for silver/golds

My first TP run - advice/help needed

Hi everyone. I'm a Tier-run newbie. Going to be in DFW for work in April - with a couple of days to kill 19-21st before having to end up in NYC to start work on the 21st/22nd April. Having never done one before, can anyone help me with what would be the most cost effective way to score 1000+ points to retain my gold in those 2 days? Happy to stopover and see a new place too, so a run with an interesting destination could be nice. Thanks in advance!

I travel loads for work but with new travel policies in place at my work, I have to travel el cheapo and hence not racking up enough tier points. I'm on 300 TPs and will probably have another 100 with this trip. So need to get about 1100-1200 points

For that number of TPs, you're looking at the SJU-HNL run. 920TPs return for around £750. Then you'll need to add a positioning DFW-SJU and a final SJU-NYC. Should net you your 1100TPs.

Hi - thanks for your help. I'm probably doing something wrong, but I can't seem to get the SJU-HNL for any less than £1,350 on aa.com?

What I did was position DFW - SJU 19 April
SJU - MIA - LAX - HNL 20 April
HNL - LAX - MIA - SJU 21 April
SJU - NYC 22 April

Help!?

Hi,

Maybe the cheap fares are sold out on some legs for the 20th?

I can get £812 on aa.com but that is leaving SJU on the 18th (for the 19th the fare is up to £1324)

Good luck!^

Regards

And of course, if you opt for the direct DFW-SJU flight it is also > 2,000 miles so generates 210 TPs instead of the 120 TPs for the two sector via Miami.

140 TPs, I believe (business only to/from SJU).

Hi,

Correct. As it is Business only to/from SJU DFW-SJU will get 140 tps ( still better than 40 for less than 2k miles)

Yes, you are absolutely correct. The main point I was getting at is that it's one of a limited number of destinations from DFW that's over the 2,000 mile threshold.

How does someone book something like the following? The AA site only allows 6 flights and this is 9

LUX-LHR-MIA-LAX-HNL | I/I/A/A | £1685 return | aa.com | 1200 TPs | £1.40/TP | BugAlugs

SJU (and others like STT, SXM) seems like a good destination, but you may not get all the points in a single run. LAS-SJU can be routed LAS-LAX-MCO-MIA-SJU and from SJU you can get to NYC on a similar fare (no 210TP segment afaik). That would minimize the amount of flying but would leave you short some TPs. You can try to nest SJU-LAS-SJU into the whole thing but time might be too tight.
