As of 2/12/14: We've had quite a few "Hey, come use this AWD. It's great" type of posts. When the AWD doesn't give a good discount, but is only posted to try to get renters to use the AWD of someone so the poster can earn free days from their Avis Corporate account. From here out, please put the company/trade group/etc that's associated with the AWD or we'll delete the post to keep it on-topic here.

Can anyone confirm this Oct. 1 date that SEA Avis is telling people? In the confirmation letter I received for an upcoming rental, it says "Please be prepared to produce your company ID, business card, or a recent email with the companys email domain (e.g. xyzcompany.com) for employment verification purposes when picking up your vehicle."

I've got the biz card, but we have no "company ID" AND I sure as heck ain't gonna lug the work laptop on a beach vacation just so that I can show an email with the company's domain (and my mobile phone doesn't have their email either -- I'd have to turn over control of the device to them if I want email on it, and I'm not about to do that).

So I will totally use the "your email says I need to show A OR B OR C" (and I'll show them my biz card which satisfies the "OR" condition :-) ), but are they really changing the rules again come Oct. 1?

OR is this a new, more stringent policy for rentals that are reserved AFTER Oct. 1?

My wife just picked up a van at FNT but didnt have to show ID. I think Ill just use the good codes at major airports where I can go straight to my spot via the app.

I would be cautious with the beach vacation argument. most company awds are only for business travel.

I can see why you are not going to lug a laptop or show mobile phone as you mentioned in the other thread (actual post since removed by moderator action in post# 8) that you, today, don't actually even have any access to your corporate email address (for potential pre-booking Avis email verification).

Business card is not worth the paper it is printed on since people can just make their own and copy/paste logo from corporate website.

except when you book using a AWD code, they explicitly ask "business or leisure". Either way I'm getting the same rate...

Anyone know if there's an AWD code for Vodafone employees?
Why lump the question I posed about Vodafone into this discussion? (or I suppose you're making a general assumption that all my inquiries are nefarious in nature?) Legit question. What's the VF AWD code if one exists? I've scoured the internal company intranet and not finding one (so it very well might not exist), but for a company the size of VF, I would be very surprised if they did not have an arrangement with Avis.

I can see why you are not going to lug a laptop or show mobile phone as you mentioned in the other thread (actual post since removed by moderator action in post# 8) that you, today, don't actually even have any access to your corporate email address (for potential pre-booking Avis email verification).

Back to the "nefarious" comment above. Why the heck do you think I inquired about the Vodafone AWD code? If Avis is cracking down on people using codes they're not entitled to, then perhaps I'm trying to find the one I AM entitled to? There's a thought.

A business email is easy enough to spoof - just edit the "to" to your name@ the company you're trying to spoof and save it to your phone then show them an email of the image when asked. It's even easier than the business card spoof.

Probably figured out anyone can create a business card in short order.

Wonder how long the "fake email" will work as well.

FYI - recently rented from airport in unnamed city and nobody asked for anything. i had a backup reservation just in case.

This is giving me an excellent discount.

When you say they created it for you, what does that mean exactly? Won't they have limited it to you only? Or is it akin to you being "ABC Corp" and instead of your "employees", you have authorized every Tom, Dick, Harry and bambino on the Internet to avail themselves of it, no questions asked?

This is giving me a huge discount on a month long rental picking up at ATL and dropping off at PBI. Very tempted but I would hate to get called out and end up paying twice as much using my company's AWD# instead...

Did anyone ordered with this code ? It gives me a good discount, but I'm just afraid it will ask for some ID proof
Thanks

It's likely related to Avis rewards program for small business. The AWD account holder receives free day for every 15 days on the code.
