As of 2/12/14: We've had quite a few "Hey, come use this AWD. It's great" type of posts. When the AWD doesn't give a good discount, but is only posted to try to get renters to use the AWD of someone so the poster can earn free days from their Avis Corporate account. From here out, please put the company/trade group/etc that's associated with the AWD or we'll delete the post to keep it on-topic here.

I encountered the same when booking so I asked AutoSlash. The code is for USAA.

Weird, I see these AWDs for USAA online: "USAA members should use Avis Worldwide Discount (AWD) Number A177204 (telephone), A177232 (online) or A177250 (mobile)"

Has anyone tried using A444491 in Europe ? The discount is amazing, but what is the danger of the airport office (in Spain) asking for proof of entitlement ?

I regularly book using Cayman as my home country (although UK based Cayman produces significantly lower rates) and have never had a problem, although my personal info on the booking shows as my UK address. So I guess the airport agents either are not alive to the address discrepancy or don't care. Overall I get the sense that because they are usually so busy and understaffed, they really just want to process people as fast as they can.

I have a code I am actually entitled to use - not nearly as good as A444491 - and have never once been asked to justify its use.

Hi,

Does anyone have a comprehensive list of AWD codes in a word or pdf doc?

Also, just joined deutsche bank AG and am looking for the AWD code for a long rental in Europe this summer. I spoke to our travel and HR dept but no one seems to know it, so I thought I'd try here.

Does your new employer use a travel agency to book staff travel? If so, the agency likely has the car-rental discount codes.

The code works all over and gives you about 50% off. D008400 with unlimited miles.
You have to show an amazon ID or an email from amazon's domain stating you are an employee. They just need a quick glance at your proof. If you do know how to show proof then dont use this code as they will deny you if you dont have simple proof that you can show on your phone. Amazon is the only company still using rentals heavily as their business was boombing. Most companies stopped all car rentals so their codes lost all their good usage based discounts.

Getting off-topic, but I'd dispute the "most companies stopped all car rentals". Sure, a lot of companies did and Amazon business did well during the pandemic, but so did many other businesses & industries. But far from "most companies". I've been averaging ~2 rental cars per week, slightly above my pre-pandemic norms. Many others in our industry (specialty chemicals) are doing well, partly because of the pandemic. We're traveling heavily, as are many other industries. Sure, the typical consultants might have taken a significant travel hit, but there are lots that are still going strong. Heck:
  1. In the height of the pandemic, we were pushed to use rental cars more frequently instead of flying due to the unknowns of being in a tube with 100 other people.
  2. We're still pushed to use rental cars over other transportation, when possible.
  3. We've been told to use rental cars instead of Uber, if feasible, just to eliminate potential risks. This, coupled with Uber costs and availability issues, has driven me to grab a car when I'd typically take other routes. For example, I was in DEN last week. The next 2 trains were cancelled to downtown. Options were to wait about an hour for the next train, pay $128 for an Uber, or grab a car and drop-off at a downtown location. Rental + fuel was <$50 and also allowed me to pickup my coworker so he didn't have to take a train/Uber the next day.

Can I ask if anyone has used this code lately, and if there have been IDs asked for?

I second this question - any details? Is it a cardholder code or employee?

Thanks. Finally ended up calling, and found its from one of those employee discount programs that my employer had when I joined them. They have moved on to a different one since then. Any issue in still using the code? Am going to be traveling to leisure destinations, if that matters.

Not a specific answer to your question, but I'm currently renting using a corp code and was not IDed. This is a Preferred rental at a larger airport. There's always that risk of refusal and you should be ready to flinch if you're not entitled to that AWD.

I tired the AMAZON integration about a year ago and it didn’t really get me too far or too much more of a discount than what some AWD and AS would do. but, I tried it again for an upcoming HI rental and it brought it down quite a bit. I started at $1180 for a two week rental Full Size, AS found me rates down about $800 (pay at pickup) and the Amazon “30% off” got it to $720, and $640 for pre-pay - which I ended up doing. I mean we’re GOING, so hopefully that won’t be an issue.

Discount Code that shows up is L463685
Rate Code is TQ

And, it seems that once the rental is completed one should get back another 10% of some amount in amazon gift card credit.. I’ll let this be a test.

AWD for one-way rentals

Does anyone know of a good AWD for one-way rentals? The AWDs I normally use offer good savings, but charge between $0.23 and $0.27 per mile. Not a good option for me, since I'm driving ~1,500 miles over the course of a week.
