As of 2/12/14: We've had quite a few "Hey, come use this AWD. It's great" type of posts. When the AWD doesn't give a good discount, but is only posted to try to get renters to use the AWD of someone so the poster can earn free days from their Avis Corporate account. From here out, please put the company/trade group/etc that's associated with the AWD or we'll delete the post to keep it on-topic here.

I've booked a National Car rental using my corporate code, and I was told both by my corporate liaison and by National that I can decline CDW when I sign the rental agreement. Not sure if it's different with Avis.

Has any preferred member used a corporate code within the last month in the US been asked to produce proof in any airport location?
As a preferred member, I rearly see any humans when picking up my car. I am heading to LAX in a few weeks and welcome any fresh experiences.

Reserved a week in a convertible Mustang for 555 Euros picking up at SAN in Oct. including all insurance - not bad at all, and completely legit.
Remember that you will need to use one of the European Avis country sites (avis.ie, avis.fr, avis.ch, avis.it) for bookings to take advantage of the great rates.

Btw, I think you are confusing the airlines with the car rental companies. The airlines got almost $50B in stimulus packages. Do you know how much the car rental companies got? Zero (other than PPP/SBA loans that all businesses could apply for).

Hello all, I will be traveling to Barcelona from Miami and need to rent a car for three weeks. Normally, I use the AAA South code for Hertz and it is giving me good rates (like 350-450 for three weeks rental) but not this time. I do have a code that knocks the cost by 60% with AVIS and I have used it recently to a trip to Providence airport PVD and no questions asked. How tight are they at the BCN Barcelona airport? I can also get to other airports like CDG (Paris) or LYS (Lyon) etc. in France. Fare is about the same but MIA-BCN is the cheapest nearly all the time. If there is a risk free code, I will take it. Thanks!

I just used a company AWD code in BOS that was a “grey” argument at best if my company ID were checked, but nothing when I went up to to the preferred desk. Maybe since it was 10PM and they just didn’t care had something to do with it. Avis did send around 8 emails prior to arrival with strong language though.
I’m thankful it played out that way, since the cheapest code I DO qualify for on my backup, Hertz, was more than twice the price.

Cheapest AWD + Discount Coupon for Calgary Airport
Hi guys, I am sorry if this is an unreasonable request. I have an upcoming rental booking of 4 days (Thursday to Monday) at Calgary airport and wanted to know if anyone can help me with the best AWD + Discount Code. I have tried several combinations from codes here and for whatever reason the prices are seems to be very high. Sorry for the trouble guys.

I had a friend who got the same e-mail about having to show his ID for using a code. He had his business card ready and never got asked about it.
A few questions
1) has anyone actually been asked to show their business card etc? From this thread it seems a nobody small percentage have
2) Does anyone have specific experience about not being covered by insurance when using a code? What I am seeing is a lot doom and gloom with nothing to back it up.

Update: Got asked for ID for the code. I had none, so canceled reservation and walked out. I did try to talk through it but the agent said it is a company wide policy since March of this year to check IDs for corporate codes. Agent also said you could avoid it at airport locations since they allow you to bypass the counter but at locations like their's they have to verify and confirm that ID has been checked before approving the reservation rate.

Anyone familiar with # D488900 ? Can't seem to find anything on google, but I'm pretty certain it was added to my Avis account through my employer. It doesn't add any coverage as far as I can tell, but does offer a discount on some coverage and extras. The reason I'm curious is it's giving me an incredible discount on both one-ways and round-trip although one-ways seem to have a milage fee of .30/mile. I plan to use it for a personal one-day one-way rental, so I thought I'd double check here just to see if anyone has info on it.
I also saw an earlier post about D468800. I believe this is one of the default Avis codes, although it could have also been added by my employer, as it's always popped up on my account. It doesn't provide much of a discount.
