As of 2/12/14: We've had quite a few "Hey, come use this AWD. It's great" type of posts. When the AWD doesn't give a good discount, but is only posted to try to get renters to use the AWD of someone so the poster can earn free days from their Avis Corporate account. From here out, please put the company/trade group/etc that's associated with the AWD or we'll delete the post to keep it on-topic here.

I am trying to figure out where I got the AWD number that has been in my profile since 2008. Its a real/valid AWD as I never wanted to use anyone's that's not legal/ethical.
Am planning a 4 week long stays in the 4 main Hawaii islands this summer. And while everyone quotes north of $1000 including Avis - with this AWD am in $200-$400 range. Worried if I can expect to have these reservations honored.

The easiest thing to do is to just call the reservations line and ask them what discount code is on your reservation. The phone agents can see the name the AWD is associated with.

What is the best publicly available AWDs that work globally across Avis sites? I'm talking like the airline or hotel ones which anyone can use as long as they belong to the loyalty program. I know it can vary by rental location, but is 10% off the best one can do with publicly available AWDs like the airline and hotel ones, or is there a better one I am missing? Paging Autoslash!
Thanks
Thanks

Interesting thanks. The airlines actually seem to work better globally. And yes, they all give the same 10% off. Does the pay now discount narrow or go away as you get closer to the rental date?

That said, they become more tempting the closer you get to the rental dates, but we probably wouldn't even consider them less than 3 days or so before the pickup date unless we were certain to use the reservation and the price point was at least 10-15% below than the best pay-later rate we could find.
Others may feel differently, but if one of the AutoSlash team members were booking for themselves, that's a window into how we look at it. Hope this helps!

We don't pay all that much attention to the ebbs and flows of the pay now rates/discounts because, on the whole, we feel that the discounts offered are usually not worth the tradeoff for the cancellation penalty they usually levy. A better deal often comes along.

Most times, they are not cancelable without a penalty, but YMMV.

Hey guys!
I got a question about the AWD D008400. As far as i know it is a Code for Amazon. I am currently an Amazon employee in Germany, traveling to Miami next month. I plan on using the AWD when renting a car from AVIS there.
I asked my department manager about the code but he did not have any information about it and did not even know it existed. Anybody knows if this code is valid for every employee world wide or just in the US? Does it waive the underage fee? It doesn't show when I enter the AWD.
Thanks!
