Varying data points; see, e.g., posts 1285, 1311, 1312 from this thread (some of these posts were actually in regard to an earlier query you made). Based on these, I would avoid Grubhub and also use the credit as early in the day as possible.

It depends on the merchant. The only one I know whose transactions consistently post on the same date is Shake Shack, and that could vary by thin region.

You'll have to contact CSR to get them to apply it or to offer one-time credit...GrubHub / Seamless does not post in one day in my experience - I always use it early in the month for that reason and it usually takes 2-3 days to post

Good luck. It didn't work for me.

We had an aggravating experience with not receiving the 4x bonus for dining at a restaurant. We have finally been given the points after considerable hassle but have been told that the restaurant has the improper SIC code despite it being a code for restaurants and bars. The full story: we ate at Tarpys in Monterey in late July. It has been a restaurant for over 30 years. The bill posted as 1x. We were told that it was not categorized as a restaurant. We spoke to the accountant for the restaurant who said this was the strangest call she had received in her years working there. She directed us to call the parent company. It owns 3 restaurants in the Monterey area. We were given the SIC code and were told that it is a restaurant and bar category. We called AMEX again. After being passed onward to various agents, we were told that the SIC code was changed in early June. The code currently used is for worldwide restaurants. The code that was used earlier is for California restaurants. Finally after considerable pushing and pointing to all our years as AMEX customers with a reasonable volume of purchases, the additional points were given to us as goodwill.

People will tell you that this is an issue with every issuer, but it is still very clearly a larger issue with AMEX than other banks. My CSR has never incorrectly coded a restaurant after many years. When I've called in about coding issues I've never been able to get them to admit to an issue, attempt to resolve it, or offer any goodwill credit. Glad you were able to get compensation, but you can imagine how if this was a restaurant you went to frequently you'd probably have to just switch to another card.

I agree. Wonder why AmEx has more issues? They're not including enough merchants codes that would trigger the bonus? Some AmEx reps fight back hard even though it's clearly an oversight/mistake.

Because AMEX doesn't want to give out the points, simple as that. I'm amazed (but glad) that @SanDiego1K got reimbursed (and Tarpy's brings back some memories) but this is certainly the exception and not the rule, as many posts since the PRG was (re)introduced demonstrate. In my case, I had a plethora of transactions that MCC'd as restaurants that didn't get 4x and AMEX flat out blanket denied even to review. It's the main reason I canceled the card.

Really? After the card was first issued - i had several issues (many i documented here) - and most, if not all, were resolved. Now, granted, these were mostly local spots that i frequent daily, if not weekly - so i've been able to follow the change occur over time. But i complained... and all of my local haunts that weren't coded initially are now racking me up 4x... COVID hampering that just slightly.

Yes, really. I even brought up the 4x issue with the AMEX exec who fixed my long-ongoing problem with Uber and the Plat credit, and despite the tremendous efforts the exec made on the Uber/Plat credit issue, it was made clear to me the 4x MCC issue is not one that could be addressed/rectified.

Starting next year, Amex Gold offering $10 a month in Uber credits, similar to the $200 a year you get from Amex Platinum. Good as cash for me...
