So, I did the following and they did not trigger the credit.
1. Bough a ticket for about 700$ and used a 250$ gift card - it has been 2 weeks 2. Bought an award ticket with 260$ in fees - also about 2 weeks 3. Upgraded to C+ on one of the flights, no dice as yet ( has been about 72 hours) Any other suggestion for what I could do to trigger the credit? |
So, if you have $200 in unused airline credits and no plans of flying this year, are you basically SOL at this point? Hate to waste this perk as the loss of these GC purchases was literally was pushed me to get this card.

You could also just purchase a ticket that you actually plan on using....?
No, I can't. I don't know my life or work schedule beyond next week, much less where I'll be or where I'll want to go sometime next year. The old GC hack was perfect because I could bank the credit and use it when I needed. So now I'm looking for the workaround to make the credit usable.

Are you looking at one way fares or only round trip tickets?

Avoid Delta hubs. I don't think Flexible Dates is important, because Refundable fares tend to be the same every day. Include Nearby Airports is useful. |

Upgrades aren't supposed to be refundable under the AmEx rules, but YMMV.

I screwed this up. I had about $100 in credit remaining. I purchased two tickets for $135 each, and used a $100 gift certificate. Delta put two separate charges through, one for $35, one for $135. The $35 got the credit, the $135 didn’t. Next time I’ll make sure that a single ticket gets me the entire credit I need.

Gah, I feel like I just wasted $550 on this card because I never would have bought it if I had known this $200 credit would become worthless to me. |

Reimbursed?

Delta Made me wait 3 days to redeem the gift card. Booked a flight scheduled for may 2020 with the gift card + $206 charged to my Hilton amex Payment posted to me Hilton Amex today coded as Document Type: Additional Collection. Ill update later this week to see if it triggers the fee credit. |
Book 2 award tickets for $80.56 each on Nov 30th. Use the Platinum with $142 Airline Fee Credit remaining to pay.
Yesterday, I got the $142 Amex Airline Fee Reimbursement. |
I had already used up my $300 travel credit or 2019 so im not sure. The transaction coded as TRAVELthought so that means it should it I had any available.

When buying that $75 on your CSR card, did you get reimbursed from the $300 annual travel credit? Please let me know!
