Referrals and self-referrals are an important part of churning Canadian-issued American Express cards. It is appropriate to discuss how the referral process works in this thread. However, please do not offer or request referrals here.

AMEX Platinum Rewards - $699/year, 60K MR (via referral) after $1000 spending in 3 months vs. 50K non-referral + earn 15K MR for each referral you make
(Note: from Mar 23 - Jun 29 the bonuses were 75K welcome and 25K referral points)

AMEX Business Platinum Rewards - $399/year, 75K MR (via referral) after $5000 spending in 3 months vs. 40K non-referral + earn 25K MR for each referral you make
(Note: as of Jun 30, the Business Platinum is still at 75K welcome and 25K referral points).

AMEX Gold Rewards - $150/year, FYF, 25K MR after $1500 spending + $50 cashback from GCR
(Note: as of mid-May 2016, Gold will now earn 5K points for referring and increased from $500 to $1500 required spending. FYI: from Jan 11 to mid-May, the Gold card earned 0 referral points.)

Latest BizGold hit 5k and 40k posted right away! This card had a brand new MR # for some odd reason. I rotate 2 diff. Biz names and older card is getting cancelled. I always apply for a 2nd while #1 is open. This card is good for 4 months before I apply again.

retention bonus for AP Aeroplan Platinum?
Have any FTs had recent success getting a AP retention bonus for renewing this card? I asked for 25k and the call center is saying "no way". Also, isn't this the same card as the "new" Aeroplan Plus Platinum?

Basically, yes. The 2nd company is in reality just a holding co with limited transactions per year. What I think matters more is the $$$$ I spend with Amex per month.

Yesterday I self referred from a Biz Gold to a Biz Platinum. I have never had an Amex Platinum, either personal or Biz. I just re-read the terms and it says that the welcome bonus is not available to current Amex Biz card holders. Does anyone have experience here? Am i disqualified from the Platinum bonus because I presently hold (and self-referred from) the Gold Biz? I certainly am hoping to get the 75K signup bonus, not just the 25k Gold Biz referral bonus.

First Transaction June 4th
Spend threshold crossed June 13th
All points (75k) posted as "Bonus Points" July 26th
coincidentally it posted at the same time as the travel credit that I used two days earlier...

Wife's personal Gold hit $1500 and instant 25,000 MR. Not sure if was new MR or not. 4th or 5th Gold (lost track).

I am looking to get the Amex gold reward (FYF, 25k after 1500 spending). I had this card and cancelled last year. I heard the signup bonus is first time applicants only. Can anyone confirm?

Just wanted to pass along some recent experiences. When applying for new Amex cards, I haven't been auto-approved for a while. however, the system approves me within a day or two as my wife (who is referring me) gets her bonus. Same thing happened to her last application. No auto-approval, but the referral bonus posted in my account the next day.
