Booking fee is now waived for USA Centurion and Platinum cardholders, even if you pay with another card, such as Premier Rewards Gold or Business Rewards Gold. See this thread beginning at post 103.

The total is four points per dollar:
- 1 base point for spending a dollar
- 1 bonus point for using the Travel booking site
- 2 bonus points for buying airfare (provided the ticket transaction is processed by an airline)

Is there a bonus to booking travel through the MR site (and not using points) such as extra points earned? I notice that for PRG the wording for the 3X multiplier says 'booked directly through airline' so I suppose you can't get 4X points using MR site, but does a bonus even exist for earning MR points when paying with $?

Yes. Click here: https://travel.americanexpress.com/home
You will if, as is usually the case, the transaction is billed by the airline rather than by the agency.

Note to Mia: Still no work around?
How does on book a Premium Economy ticket on the Amex Platinum Travel service web site? It would be great to get 4x the MR for booking our ticket but the web site is inadequate. We are booking on British Airlines.
Any advice?

And you would also get charged with booking fee if you use Gold card. I used Plat card, so they did not charge $6.99 booking fee.

Booking on Amex Travel earn stay credits?
Hi all, if I were to book on amex travel for the 2x points on membership rewards, would I earn the stay credits and points at chain hotels such as Hyatt and Starwood? I know the FHR program does, just wondering if amex travel online booking does as well? Thanks

americanexpress.com/travel is outsourced to Orbitz. Many hotel programs exclude bookings made through online travel agencies (consolidators) from benefits and rewards.

AMEXTravel100 Promo
Hello. So glad I found this site/thread.
I'm trying to put together a surprise Hawaiian wedding anniv for 9/15. As part of our trip I was going to use the #AMEXTravel100 prom (spend $600-$100 on my SPG cc) for a 2 night stay at Turtle Bay Resort or somewhere on Maui/Kaui before 9/30 (promo ends).
I will be in HNL/Oahu for the 1st 4 days of a 2 week trip to see Pearl Harbor (I'm a Disabled Vet). After that I was considering the GH Kauai on cash and pts to help start my Diamond challenge. I was considering to do the same promo w/ my Hilton for a Hilton brand and being that I'm Gold. But there obviously would be no use if I can't get the "hotel pts and benefits" as well, correct?
The promo itself would eventually only be paying for the hotels that do cause resort fees and AMEX's fee(s), correct?
I was originally going to use Hilton pts the 1st 4 days (and possibly use my Gold bennies) but then I was going to use the promo for the 1st 2 days and possibly split both cards (up to $1200) on 1 2/3night stay and the other 2 nights on Hilton pts. But after reading this thread I'm not feeling too good about AMEXTravel. The Hyatt rep on Flyertalk said that he/she would assist me in booking so I may talk to them to see where they can help me concerning upgrades, food, etc.

Thanks for the reminder #amextravel100 promo. Pretty much slipped my mind now I'm planning a wedding in Auckland.
Not much points options there so I'm thinking of a suite with kitchenette (to save our waistlines and dough) through Heritage Hotels. Will Amex Travel accept BRG from a Kayak or getaroom.com rate? Would be fantastic to stack this with the $100 offer!
Edit: I would imagine we'd get a better experience at the hotel having booked through Amex than say, Priceline or Kayak. Any thoughts?
Update: Amex Travel matched the room rates offered on Kayak/Getaroom.com. I submitted the claim with website address and screenshot. They responded in a couple of business days. No success at an adjustment for taxes after two attempt. The reps just cited the terms. When I asked for an explanation, they just kept repeating that it was because taxes are required by the government and I paid for the higher rate (no dispute that I did. Only way their "explanation" makes sense to me is that the original rate/reservation is what was actually contracted and paid with the hotel. Amex is just doing an internal courtesy credit. Not sure why they couldn't just say it). This is different than some chains' BRG but I guess that's how they roll.
