Saturday evenings, AA loads schedules and runs batch processes. This means some scheduled flights might go missing, or your account may show all zeroes, sometimes well into Sunday. It will all come back.

If the website doesn't work try the app, or vice versa.

If it is just you, try: reload the page, empty your cache, delete one or more cookies, quit and restart the browser, shut down and reboot the computer.
LRD shared: (maybe)... it's a bad cookie. I use the "Remove Cookie for Site" extension. This adds a menu item to your mouse right-click that clears the cookies for just the domain you are viewing. Works ...for example, clearing Citi cookies before submitting a second, same-day AA credit-card application.

Drunkmuppet: Go to book flights->advanced->clearhistory.

azsharonc: How to resolve the 400 errors in Chrome

1. clear you recent search history on the advanced search page
2. you can delete aa.com cookies by left clicking on American Airlines Inc in the address field
Select Cookies from the list
from the list of cookies, expand the caret for aa.com or www.aa.com
click on cookies then click remove.

Welcome to FT.

I have had no difficulty logging in and checking possible award travel on aa.com during the past few days. I have not, however, sought to book a flight, so I don't know if part of the website is working well.

I assume this means you were able to log in then? I am not able to log in at all - I just get the error message.

I got that error message once yesterday. I tried again and it worked fine and still does.

Another poster mentioned this in the newbie thread and I replied there -- tl;dr I had the same problem, but it went away after changing my password from the app: NEWBIE LOUNGE 2024: Ask AA newbie questions here - flame-free thread

I suspect that the AA site maybe does not handle certain special characters in passwords (but others are ok) even though their password dialog claims otherwise (this could just be a red herring though)

Just tried logging in, got an error message. Said I had six attempts before my account was locked. Tried again, no luck. Switched browsers, tried once, said my account had been locked.

Just called customer service, wait time is 30+ minutes. Will report back.

Added: I'm still logged in on the app, that seems to be fine.

As alluded to above, once I changed my password in the app, I was able to login via desktop browser again, so might be worth giving that a try.

The issue isn't my password. I did an experiment where I deliberately logged in with a wrong password - they system recognized that it was incorrect and I got the usual "incorrect password" page. When I log in with my correct password I get the "Our system is having trouble. Please wait a few moments and try again" error message.

So something is wonky with my account. The app works fine however.

I'm going to give it until Monday and if it hasn't fixed itself by then I guess I have to call.

Yes, to clarify, the issue is not with entering an incorrect password, it's with the actual composition of the correct password.

I just did a test -- I tried to change my password to something that included a { and a % sign, because those were both present in my previous password. This causes the change password dialog to reject it as an invalid password (again despite the language saying "any combination of special characters, letters and numbers" is allowed)

So I theorize that they recently pushed some code change that for whatever reason chokes on one or both of those characters. And while the dialog prevents you from changing to a NEW password containing forbidden characters, they failed to take into account people whose EXISTING password contains one of those characters.

I can also say that at least * - ! are acceptable

OK you are correct sir! I changed my password in the app to eliminate the "forbidden" characters and problem is solved.

However, the Manage my Trip screen on the mobile app is not working for me.

On an unrelated note, the Select a Meal UI is absolutely horrid. Instead of being by flight, it's one giant looping list. I have a PNR with 6 flights with meals and it's impossible to use.

Oddly enough, I changed my password, and it worked once. Then, when I logged out and tried to log back in, it failed again. I had to again change my password, after which it now appears to be working.

And, yes, the meal UI is a mess. I like seeing all the flights on one screen, as it makes it easier to select different meals on different flights. However, for a given flight, I'm seeing the same options multiple times. And, the display is a mess when accessing it on my phone.

So weird. I've been intermittently getting OTPs on every log in for a while and then they stop. AA IT is a wonder to behold.

I really don't understand what they were thinking. Spending money painting the front door while the roof is on fire; not to mention, they actively made it worse.
