Great crew, very polite and professional, lots of refills and offers of snacks. I had the seafood salad bowl and it was nice and light and fresh tasting. No complaints, and a beautiful day to gaze out the window.

Nope. Family of 4 boarded right before me, had 1/2 D/G, seemed to be newbies, and the other 4 boarded at some point. F fares have indeed dropped from the >$2K+ premium they carried when I bought my ticket so maybe AA actually sold all 8 seats.
Wide open heading back Monday, I imagine I'll clear that with a BXP1.

8:45 a.m. departure; 3h57m in flight
Great flight so far. After a small fiasco waitlisting a BXP1, I moved up from 3A to 1A (pro tip: never waitlist a Business Extra upgrade--they don't clear even when there's upgrade space, and then it's a hassle to call to clear manually, and then I wasn't able to check in online because the system thought it had to collect additional taxes). Anyhow, I stayed last night at the new-ish AC Hotel in El Segundo, which provides complimentary Lyft/Uber rides to the airport in lieu of a shuttle service. My driver dropped me off right in front of Flagship Check-In, where the agent cleared up the errors and printed my BP, and I was escorted up to the (empty) precheck line.
I popped into the AC for coffee & apple slices (saving the Krug for MIA) and then headed to the (empty) TBIT for boarding at gate 155. I had to chuckle at the sight of a happy skateboarder cruising the shuttered shopping areas.
On board, the pillow/blanket appears to be the PE product, which is definitely odd considering that I got the "full sized" pillow and comforter even in J on the flight out from MIA on Saturday. The amenity kit does appear to be larger, but I can't perceive any additional useful items in it (all I use is the lotion & lip balm anyhow). Socks were provided separately from the amenity kit.
FA took preferences in the following order: 2A, 2D, 2J, 2G, 1A, 1D, 1G, 1J. There were only 3 of the scrambled eggs, which were chosen by the first three pax, but I was going to pick the strata anyhow, so not a big deal. 1D and 1G both chose oatmeal, which probably saved 1J from being stuck with only oatmeal.
Cappuccino came promptly after takeoff as I settled into "desk mode" to get the day's work done early. Then came the food, which was fine, although the cinnamon roll really is inedible in its near-frozen state (my waist line is thankful, I suppose). Good service from both FAs.
End of the day, I thoroughly enjoy the swivel chair and being able to look out the three windows as the landscape passes by. With the $159 J fare and a BXP1 upgrade, I'd say it's one of the best deals I've gotten on AA in a long time

Skater-boy appeared to be enjoying the empty halls of TBIT.

Larger amenity kit, but smaller pillow & blanket, than what I got in J on MIA-LAX.

Cappuccino & 3 windows.

Takeoff over Manhattan Beach; Palos Verdes in the back-right corner.

Strata.

platbrownguy - thanks for the 77W F review. Great to see AA is serving Deutz in Flagship transcon F - one of my favorite Champagne houses!

Indeed, so long as you don't mind drinking from plAAstic!
Finished work, so the FA brought me a tasting of the reds with some Love Corn. Both are great; the Merryvale cab is fabulous. I don't know for sure whether J has the same wine list... we didn't have all this in J on MIA-LAX.

Does covid transmit easier with plastic cups than glass?
Great report!

No, it transmits more readily with glass. For the next few days, that is, until AA brings back glass at the ACs, at which point we can all breathe a sigh of relief that that danger has partially subsided. (I say partially because I expect that it will be a while longer before it's "safe" enough to have glass on board again!)

Excellent service, polished off a bottle of the bubbles in a plastic cup.
Strata was very tasty and the fruit and wine selection was enough to put me to sleep after.
I hung out in the MIA D30 AC waiting for my flight to ATL for work.
See you around the fleet!

Dude, I was on that flight! way back in 4D. My one way Y fare was $131 with an upgrade to J. Super deal for me.

From your pictures and my recollection; the wine list was the same. The bubbles lose something with the plastic cup.

Quick question from me about these MIA - LAX flights. I assume the menu is only available on the 77W operated services? I am flying to MIA on the 772 operated service on 2/13 so just curious whether I'll get something akin to the above photos, or whether it will be a turkey sandwich / yoghurt and granola?
