As of 9/21:
Flights under 900 miles
Flights over 2,200 miles* / over 4.5 hours
**Some domestic and short-haul international flights will include a fruit and cheese plate instead of tray meal service and will also have snack basket service before landing.
cmd320 notation (unofficial): the 2,200mi + section for F and J is a bit misleading. Domestic flights within the continental US other than premium transcons (JFK-LAX/SFO, MIA-LAX on 77W) do not receive a full meal and instead only see a sandwich/fruit and cheese plate.
fly747first notation (official) MIA LAX on 772 receives full meal and amenities as Flagship Business except for lounge access

Just took a survey re a recent flight, and was given the option to opt-in for an upcoming virtual focus group on AA’s meal service offerings. If chosen, I’ll report back.

FWIW, the load in J on my flight was so light that everyone got their first choice - the FA even offered to let me change if I wanted, as there were more than enough of all options loaded.
Also, while the service isn’t back to normal and is all on one tray, I actually appreciated a quick, one-stop dining experience as it allowed me to (attempt to) get more sleep on the way to LHR.
Safe travels and enjoy the 14 day quarantine when you get to London, assuming that’s your final destination 🤪

First time poster, long time lurker. Just hit Exec Plat for the first time as well. I’m too new to post pics but from today....
ONT-DFW 737-800 830AM in J
Excellent FAs who called each passenger in J by their name. Was given a snack box which was a surprise. Was expecting the now customary cheese or sandwich. Very proactive drink service as well. Have a RJ segment later so will update.

I had the same error trying to reserve a meal ORD-LHR in August. I checked back daily and around 10 days out I was able to reserve. It was noted by the FA when taking orders so it clearly worked.

I've had plenty a great meals on AA, pre and current covid. Just because the short rib tasted like a shoe doesn't automatically make me diss the entire airline. Today for example, I plan to enjoy a tasty manufactured sandwich from Dallas to Detroit.
