Does anyone have any recent information on how EQDs are calculated for the companion?

I'm looking to use the certificate for a trip over Labor Day with my wife, and I'm not sure whether she will receive EQDs based on my ticket price (~$400), the companion ticket price ($99), using a special fare formula, or something else.

The person who purchased the ticket get EQD, the companion doesn't get any since the $99 is a "fee" aren't part of the equation.

Stupid question - But can it be 2 round trips on different flights, or do i have to take two companions on the same flight?

YUP Fares

Does anybody know if you can use the companion certificate on a YUP fare? Reading both the T&Cs of the companion certificate and the fare rules on an example YUP fare, they both seem to use the same word choice of "economy fare" and the example YUP fare has a fare basis starting with an S, which is one of the allowed codes on the certificate.

I have this same question. It seems like it would be easier for me to provide the agent with the record locator since I won't have to provide the flight numbers or passenger details. Will this work?

I have had a problem sitting at the computer and find the flights I want and calling in. You might be able to do a reservation for 1 put it on hold and then calling in.

Question Companions Traveling without Primary Traveller on Return?

I'm booking two companions to travel with me JFK-LAX.
I'm wondering if the companions can fly without me on return? (I'll be staying in LA longer and return on a separate ticket)

At one time it was a Yes, but since the merger, things have changed.

Anyone have experience selling up / up-faring tickets after booking the initial economy ticket for main traveler + companions?

Ie: Looking at a $650+ RT ticket for 3 people, F on the same routing is about $1000. So there is some big savings on the initial Y ticket to be had using the companion cert. I'd like to then sell up/up-fare the tickets into F.

So the questions are:
Is that allowed? Not technically an upgrade.
Any data points on doing this?
How would the fare difference be calculated? 1000-650=$350 for all 3 pax? Or $350 for the main pax and then a big chunk of money for the other two?

Appreciate the insight!

I stumbled upon this thread while trying to find an answer to this question, so I wanted to come back and let people know that yesterday I successfully applied the Barclays Silver Aviator Companion Certificate to a set of flights for 2 people that I had put on hold. It did not seem like a problem at all, the agent just verified that the dates of the reservation, etc. were within the terms of the certificate, then asked me which person's name the certificate was in and which person was the companion. Relatively painless.

Happy flying,

I called today to book a CC, and the agent explicitly told me that since i was the only one on a normal paid ticket, my companion could not be upgraded, but that i was eligible for it.
I don't know if that's true or not, and quite frankly i am not bothered one way or the other, but thought it was an interesting point.
