Who do I call to do this? The EXP desk? When I booked with Meeting Services, they said they record couldn't be split.

BTW, I've found this whole CC to be very disappointing. Had held ORD>MIA>PBI>ORD and told that fare wan't eligible, since it wasn't round trip (PBI & MIA are not co-terminals). Then I found round trip in and out of PBI, but was told the certificate wasn't eligible for an O fare. So had to upfare. Thankfully it wasn't subject to an embargo date. All in all, certainly not something I would put extra spend on the CC get, but nice if you can use it.

Does anyone know if Y-UP fares are eligible for the certificates? I'm trying to figure out how to get the best value out of mine.

I've definitely used this for an O fare before. I think the agent gave you erroneous information.

I booked for myself and two companions - does O have to be available for all 3 travelers?

another question on this - since they don't ticket it until they receive the certificate, does that mean I could make changes until they do? For example, if the fare drops in price in the next few days, can I call back and reissue?

I believe (but I'm not positive) that all fares must come out of the same bucket.

Usually I, but the fare basis would start with Y.

Yeah I called the EXP desk after I booked my flights and split the PNR with them and applied the 500 mile upgrades.

I have never been able to get multi-quote to work.

I used O fare for my recent experience.
I was able to just call the EXP desk, and they split the reservation. The agent even asked how many bags i thought i may need, and pointed out that the third person wouldn't have baggage allowance.
I tried on a Y-Up fare and was explicitly told no.

As an update, flew this past weekend on a CC reservation (myself on the full fare, friend of mine on the companion who has no AA status)

1) We did not split the PNR
2) We were both upgraded on the outbound, complimentary for me and my 500 mile upgrades for him
3) No upgrade on the return (just didn't clear), so I was group 2 as usual and he was group 4 boarding
4) We both earned EQM, EQD, and RDM for the flights. I earned based on the full fare, and he earned based on a $99 V-fare

Hope this helps others

Another data point:
Booked a flight using the Barclays companion pass.
All three booked into economy fare classes that will earn miles and dollars according the earnings chart. All on same PNR.
Appears that I will earn based on full fare (minus taxes of course) and companions will earn based on $99 fare.
Not sure about upgrades and I received an email to call about upgrades because "one companion is ineligible based on status."
Will call later and see what happens.
So far so good.

Does anyone have experience getting a ticket issued in full Y, with their two companions ticketed in full Y as well, and then using mileage upgrades at 5,000 miles each with no cash co-pay to clear into C. Would this work?

For those who haven't seen, they reduced the mileage requirement to get the companion certs - from $30,000 in spend to $20,000 in spend.

Thinking to cancel the card after the recent negative change to both the card and AA, however, wanted to do that after getting the new companion ticket which I have earned.
So my understanding is I have a window from the 46th day to 60th after anniversary to cancel my card and get AF refund but they will still mail the cert 8-10 weeks later?
Do I have to be a card holder and pay using the card when I redeem the cert?
